Hi, thanks for adding me to the Charger forums! I will have planty of questions for you guys. I am from Henderson NV and I have a 2009 Dodge Charger SXT w/200k miles that I purchased for $1200. It was bought from the original owner (family friend) who took amazing care of it. It has high milage, but I already pulled all the drive train to get ready and do a full R/T swap. I'm in the process of buying a R/T from the auctions for a full parts car. This is where the majority of my questions will stem from. Anyways I hope I can get a bunch of good information from you guys and also pass along some of the knowledge to others. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Put a brake upgrade on your short list. The brakes on the V6 Gen 1 cars were adequate at best for doing errands and such. If you can, grab the brakes from the V8 car your 5.7L comes from.

Yeah I have it on the list for sure! Thanks! The parts car I'm getting looks to have everything to fully swap over, so I will do as much as I can. Some other things I am planning on swapping will be the driveshaft, diff, axles and all other parts in connection with drivetrain. My only concern really is the parts car is the older year model and I need to figure out how to smog it. I might end up having to sell the motor, harness and ecm and get at least the same year as my car.

WoW! This is actually being attempted? Most of the time we get posts on this from pipe dreamers and tell them to forget it and buy an R/T.
All I can say is good luck. Some of the up hill hurdles will be the electrical / communications. You are adding two more coils just to name one.
Listing everything you do, to get it to run would really be interesting. Everything.
Get with the previouse owner about the heater/coolant reservoir hoses from the fire wall. If they have not been replaced I suggest you do while the access is easy. Those Tee fittings get brittle.

Yeah I figured I'd give it a shot since I got the car for so cheap and the parts car for cheap as well. If I had to piece together the whole swap then I wouldn't be attempting to do it. But I enjoy working on car projects and this should be a fun one. I considered just buying a car already done but there's no fun in that lol! And if I can help others out along the way then why not give it a shot.

Looks like you mean business so I hope you succeed. It will be milestone here, especially if you keep the thread updated throughout to completion. I know it takes extra effort to pause to take pictures when the work flow is enacting and post them and comment later.

Yes sir! I'll do my best. I hate all the posts that have no end to them. As soon as I get my parts car, which hopefully will be Friday I will post a update. And FYI I have completed a few projects at this level, so I'm not stranger to a challenge. I just hope that when I do run into a issue that I can get some help from the forums😆🤞🏼
