This question is two part. First, I'd like a new horn that sounds as loud and mean as my charger looks. The train whistle horns are plenty loud enough, but I don't want to keep an air tank and compressor in my truck. What's the loudest horn I can install without this complicated set up?

Second, I'd prefer to keep the stock horn and run the new one off a switch on the control panel I'm building. What kind of switches would you suggest for a horn?

Thanks!

Just about any push button momentary switch will work. Amp rating don't much matter because you need to use a relay anyway...

I have thought about getting a "police horn" added.

It will definately get someones attention.

If you go that route, make sure to get the HORN ONLY, do not get the siren also, as someone may think you are impersonating a police officer.

You have a choice of upgraded eletric horns, like what are stock on the car........air horns, which as you said, require an air compressor and a tank, or an electronic horn, such as what the police use!

I guess I'm either looking for a really low pitch electric horn, or a similar sounding air horn that doesn't require a 3 gallon tank. Are there smaller setups you can hide behind the grill or somewhere in the engine compartment?

Here it is folks.....

I happened across this in one of the many catalogs that I receive.
There are actually 4 different choices listed.
I'm sure one of them will be plaenty loud enough for most looking to increase the db output of the facory option.

BTW, none of them require any special installation. They can simply replace the factory unit with the factory wiring if desired.

go to www.griotsgarage.com and look up item #s

No affiliation, etc. although I have purchased from them in the past and been very pleased with the products, service, etc.
