NEED HELP, rims

I dont want to pay 4,000$ for new ones when i can get them for 1500 used

I found some but they are +35 offset and i talked to somone a t a rim place and said i cant get higher then 20 offset

The rim shop told me that any higher than 20 offset would make the tires stick out way too much

It might be the other way around im not sure

I was saying it the rin ship person might of said it the other way around then what i said, and so what offset should i be looking for to make the perfect fitment?
