I despreately need some guideance/direction. Over the weekend my transmission went out. The dodge dealer gave very little information just "you need a new one".
So Im trying to look at htis 3200$ bill in the best light.

My question: Is there a maual high performance transmission out there that will work with the 2007 Dodge Charger R/T? If there is Id like to find it instead of just placing another manual tranny into the car again. I expect I'll never sell this car so I'd like to make it just how id like to drive.

Any help or direction you can give are greatly appreciated.

Ummm..... there is no manual transmission that comes in the Charger. All Chargers come with automatics, unless Dodge pulled a fast one on all of us and never made it public. But the Challengers come with manual trannys. There MAY be a way to install one of those, but I would say that it would be a ton of work, if even possible at all.

The Chally tranny would be possible. It will bolt right up to your engine because they both have the same engine. You're trouble will come from all the custom work that will be needed. You'll need a custom crossmember, custom driveshaft, and custom linkage.

You will also need the PCM from a manual tranny car. The PCM you have now will go nuts if it stops getting input and communication with the TCM for the auto tranny.

The hardest part will be getting it flashed to accept the rest of the car along with the manual tranny. This means you need a manual PCM from 2007. Unfortunately the manual LX didn't appear until 2009 in the Chally. So many things changed by then that it may not play well in a 2007 vehicle.

I'd just stick with the auto.

Thanks

Thanks guys thats what I had in mind. Total redo cut into the floor for the clutch and linkage. The whole nine yards. I havent gotten alot of real solid pricing as it isnt done on these cars much. So Ive got a local shop giving me a quote and if its as high as the dealership ill just keep the automatic and wait till i buy the next one to get a manual.

Thanks for all the advice though.
