My VES console lid has a broken spring clamp that ensures that the lid doesn't open while driving. I still have my original console lid cover and noticed that the mechanisms look very similar.

The issue arises because I do not feel like I can safely open the VES center console to expose the clamp to see for sure that they are the same and, if so, switch them out. The stock one is easily accessible, but removing the VES one isn't as easy as removing the four apparent screws. It is almost as if the vinyl trim locks together in such a way that it locks to itself. Without knowing how it snaps together, I am not going to apply force that would ruin it and leave me to flip the bill.

Does anyone know if the spring clamps are the same? I already asked my Dodge Dealer and they are no help at all. I am almost scared to leave it with them as it is apparent that the are lost when it comes to this matter.

I went to the dealer. As a matter of fact, I just came back from them after starting this thread. One of the salesman convinced others that he thought the clamping mechanisms were different. Something about a grove being in a different place.

We searched for the part number of just the clamp with no luck.

We did find, however, the part number and price for the entire console lid piece for the VES system. $59.00. No pics were available of the part I got quoted for, so I'll have to cross my fingers and hope it is the right piece.

This supported one worker's notion that it isn't meant to be opened and tampered with. We both argued it shouldn't be an issue disambling that part because it doesn't impact the electrical working of the system.
