i just picked up a copy of the "muscle care review" magazine "winter 2005". the cover has a picture of a 1970 dodge charger and a 2006 charger. the articals focus is the difference between the two cars. the artical states that the 06 charger is basically a sister of the magnum which they call quote " a very cool wagon, but a wagon nontheless". it goes on the describe the 06 charger test car as "nondescript magnesium pearl (gunmetal gray)". they went on to describe the older charger as having "long shapely lines versus a blunt square sided boxy look" in the magazines overall testing the 06 charger outperformed the older charger and the writer clearly liked the older charger better but he did give a nod to the new charger.

How?? Compare the 69 with the SRT-8, exactly what does the 69 give you that you can't get with the modern Charger?? Gotta get with the current times, the old Charger's only quality is that it's more valuable and in the minds of some holds a "special" place.

This is bull$hit sentimentalism!!!!!

Your OPINION is based on emotion, and tradition, nothing else!! :asleep:

You've never owned, nor driven a 69.

But you do love those Dukes re-runs, don't ya? :embarrese
I have driven one and owned a few cars that were mechanically identical. The '69 offers the following advantages over the '06:

FAR more torque, and that torque is at much lower RPM
Better, more satisfying response to the throttle
Size roughly equivalent to a small building
Smoother highway ride
No electronic nanny of any sort
Greater ability to spin tires
Better exhaust sound
Great intake sound when the secondaries open on the carb
More interior space
Easier and cheaper to repair and maintain

I could go on, but the older cars did offer some serious advantages over the new ones. That said, I don't use my '66 as my daily driver for a variety of reasons, including reliability, ease of finding parts, and the better road manners in traffic of a newer car, combined with the fact that my Chrysler has no AC and the heater is currently disassembled in my garage...

I love old cars, but new ones have a lot of great things to offer as well, and I certainly look forward to getting my '06 next month (ETA 11/14).

Thanks for your opinion and I appreciate it.

Problem is that I wasn't addressing you. I have read your previous posts and I know that YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.

I was addressing somebody that has neither the knowledge, nor the experience with the older vehicle that you do.

But I do really appreciate the info, very informative and well-balanced.

Hey Joedotts, care to elaborate on that? Why do you think it is superior?

Your statement, just by itself doesn't have too much value without some supporting info.
