3 Malfunctions with the Trunk:
1> Will not pop open unless manually use key to unlock
2> Trunk light does not work
3> Brake light on trunk does not work

Firstly, I open and close my trunk at least 10xs++ a day. So, with the Charger being known to have trunk malfunction issues this is somewhat predictable.

The problem started about a month ago when I noticed the trunk light stopped working. I replaced the bulb and this did not solve the issue. It appeared that there might be an electrical issue. After not being able to personally fix it, I brought it into my Dodge Dealership. The dealership ran the diagnostics and assumed that the trunk latch needed to be replaced. The dealership covered this cost as a courtesy though I was over my warranty. However, the charger was returned with the light being fixed and the trunk would not close with out an extra slam.

I didn’t have any more time to spend at the dealership so I had to put off fixing the light. 3 weeks later the trunk release stops working as well as the brake light on the trunk. I do not have any experience when it comes to this depth of an issue. The dealership said if a computer needs to be replaced it could cost as much as $1000 for the computer alone.

I choose to take my Charger to the original dealership for all maintenance since I have come to know the staff/mechanics and receive discounts often. However, this dealership is a 25 mile drive one way alone. I could take the Charger to another Dodge Dealership less than 3 miles away, even though previous experiences with that particular dealership were less than satisfying. I feel that I can trust a Dodge Dealer to have a greater knowledge and experience with repairing or maintaining my Charger. Would it be better to take it to an alternative repair service? Or is there a fuse to possibly replace? Or an obvious fixes for this particular malfunction?

The dealership thought it was the latch too. Apparently it was not the latch, however when they installed the new latch the trunk then would not close properly. Thus, creating more issues...
