Everybody okay out there? Pretty spectacular pictures and videos coming up online from the eruptions, but they've also reported numerous earthquakes, including a 6.9 yesterday! That's pretty serious stuff!

I know this only directly affects a relatively small part of the Big Island, so I hope everyone's okay out there, check in when you can.

I read they had a 6.9 quake and now magma is oozing up out of fissures far away from the main crater, yikes! At least these kind of lava flows are slow and give you plenty of time to get clear (unless a fissure opens up in you living room) unlike a pyroclastic flow that comes at you at 60 mph.

The other big problem is a lot of sulpher-dioxide gas coming out, too.

Over 2-dozen homes gone as activity continues. Volcano experts are saying that the eruption and earthquake activity could last for months.

I have to wonder why anyone built or bought homes in the affected area, since that area has had volcanic activity before, as recently as the mid-eighties.
