Does anyone have anymore information on when this system works? The manual has a very dissapointing tiny paragraph stating what it is and that it works "under light loads", but nothing else. Is there an RPM range is works in?? Is there a speed range??? For example, will it work over 70 mph crusing? Or slow acceleration past, say, 2500 rpm?? And what's the low end range? If you're crawling at 5-10 mph is it working??? What about sitting for a while at idle? They really didn't give you much info on this one

Furthermore, there's a line in the manual that states: If the battery is disconnected, the system must be reset. Or it'll never activate. So, what if I change the battery later...how do I reset the system without going to a dealer?? What if the dealership had disconnected the battery for some reason in their "inspections", and the idiots never reset it? How do I know if the system is active??????

Ok, that sounds pretty good :D

I'm curious though, where did you see that info?

It was in a write-up on the 2005 300C.... if I find it I will tell you which article of which magazine...

It really only comes on during light crusing, say 70 m.p.h. in fith gear, low revs with little throttle input will trigger the system...the reason the system is only given a small paragrph is that it is very technical in how it works... but given the state of the art prossesors and control modules, it is a relatively easy thing to do... GM is bringing a similar system out with their new front drive V-8 cars and Ford is talking about their next gen truck engines having a similar feature...

Don't know if you have found anything out regarding the reset of the MDS; but, I have searched all of the net and there is nothing to say what the reset procedure is should it be deactivated by unhooking the battery or however. Raining here all day long and nothing else to do...like enjoy driving my Charger. Plus I thought the question was one I just might need to know myself at some point. Guess I'll call my dealer tomorrow morning and see what they say. Will post what I find if you haven't found out anything by then.

Does anyone know how to reset the system if the battery is disconnected or a way to verify the system is active? (For future reference)
It's part of the PCM programming, it is not necessary to reset if you disconnect the battery...the cars are shipped with the batteries disconnected. There is no way to verifiy if the system is active because the sensors on the car send the info to the PCM and it controlls the number of cyl. to be used at any given time. Since the response of the system is measured in milliseconds, you wouldn't feel it working anyway.

Did you know? The computing power on the LX cars is about 5 times more than the first Apollo astronauts had on thier flight to the moon...
