I have a 2008 charger rt with the 5.9 hemi MDS engine. Is it normal for the MDS to come on when the car gets up to 20MPH. When the MDS comes on the car feels like when you mis shift on a manual tansmission. Can anyone shed some light on this.
The idiots at the dealership have no clue as to whats going on.

MDS is activated by engine load. Usually at such low speeds you're in the process of accelerating so the engine load is higher and MDS doesn't activate. However, if you're cruising at 20mph MDS can and will activate, provided some other inputs (such as engine temp, oil temp, etc.) are satisfactory.

Some time back there was discussion about how fast you could be going and still keep MDS active. Lots of us thought it would cut out around 75 or 80 mph but, again, it's engine load dependent so you can get it engaged well over 80mph provided the load is low.

You can keep the car from entering MDS by using autostick if it bothers you.
