It'll look like a clown car, those are my thoughts lol. But do you, if it will serve a purpose that you need, go for it.

That wheel gap is only slightly more than the 2006-10 AWD cars. Those looked like they had a lift kit.

You are not alone, I'm also looking at lift kits. I live in rural Colorado, road to my house is at 8100 ft and straight up, very steep 4wd only in winter. I run 5ply Falken AT3 off road tires in the summer and studded Cooper Evolutions in winter. The only thing that stops my AWD 14 Charger is snow so deep it high centers. It's very common here to see 1-2" lift kits on Subarus and everything else as that couple inches can make all the difference in getting home or plowing snow. I'm looking for a little more clearance, slightly larger tire, grill guard (deer country, just ordered a Go Rhino guard) off road lights, roof rack, going after a ralley car look. Every car here has roof racks, rocket boxes, ski racks, rear hitches loaded with mountain bikes and camping gear galore, its part of our outdoor lifestyle. Every 4WD rig I own is loaded with overland off road gear and I don't see any reason not to modify this car, its a great big sexy toy and might as well have fun with it just like our jeep, Quigley 4wd van or anything else we own, haters be damned. I have a good time in the winter showing up and answering questions from people that don't know some of these are AWD. They are dumbfounded I could drive to where they are parked in their Tacoma and I then convince them its RWD and I'm just an amazing winter driver, lol. I like the look of that red lifted charger, just needs a little larger aggressive AT tire for me.

So are you aiming to do this as a hobby or necessity?

Because some dumb azz kid did it, claimed it looked cool and the rest of the lemmings followed suit. There is no purpose to it.

One of my son's buddies had his so squatted, when he hooked his mower trailer up to go do yards, the fenders rubbed the tires and the 10" chrome tip on the exhaust dragged the road. They are idiots.

It is now unlawful in NC.
I live in PA so obviously not the South, but I have NEVER seen that. Around here, or maybe everywhere I'm not sure, but for the past few years with trucks the "cool" thing to do is to put like 6" spacers with no fender flares and have the wheels stick wayyyy out. Also looks ridiculous.

Congrats.

First time I can think of someone started, went through with, and completed such a big project here.
