Will the trunk light turn off by itself if I leave the trunk opened? I spilled some gas in the trunk and want to let it air out overnight opened but don't want to drain the battery. Is there a fuse just for the trunk?

Not sure. I think it will go out eventually. You can always test it. Leave it open an hour or two and then look to see if it went out. If not, you can always disconnect the battery or pull the light bulbs if you think it might drain the battery overnight.

I don't know if the trunk light turns off on it's own or not. I actually don't even know if the interior lights do on an '06. Pulling the bulb would probably be the easiest way to avoid having to worry about it.

Open trunk, disconnect battery, leave until aired out. Simple.

Just make a bunch holes in the deck lid with a 2 1/8" door knob cut saw drill bit... then the light won't come on
Me, I was thinking he could just leave the engine running and then the battery won't die. Simple problems, simple solutions from simple people. <Grin>

I was thinking "Just light a match." One big POOF and no more gas smell!

Try this

A good tip, one that truckers have been using for a while, is to add ground coffee mix directly on the spot and leave them there for a week or so. The reason for that is that coffee contains a series of oils that absorb odors. There is no need for expensive coffee, even the cheapest brand will do and it won't even leave a stain on the carpet, so there is no danger.

Another odor-neutralizing substance is baking soda, and lots of it too. Sprinkle on the spot and leave overnight. The next day, brush it off and then you can vacuum the rest. The smell should be gone, and you're free to drive around all day without feeling sick to your stomach.

I was sort of thinking along the same lines. Battery is in the trunk; spilled gas is in the trunk. Arc the battery cable as you remove it, and POOF - no more gas smell.>:)

I used a long zip tie and folded it in half. Insert the folded part between the spring loaded clip in the trunk lock. The circuit will "open" and the light will turn off.
Just remember to pull the tie from the lock before closing the trunk.
Did this frequently on my 07.
Cheap and easy.
