It shouldn't even count as a loss...

A pontiac gto beat me off the line and then chirped his tires into second gear. He had me beat by about 3 or 4 car lengths before he backed out. Of course we were on the main road through Camp LeJeune, a major Marine Corps base. I wasn't racing, but he thought he won. Who races on a USMC base anyways?!?! I let him go cuz it isn't worth all the trouble that would occur if I got pulled over. Like the song says "You gotta know when to hold 'em...."

The 6.0 L romps our socks off.. :(
It does but technically he's right. It doesn't count as a loss unless he was racing.
The main street on base just isn't a good place to go for a street race, that's all I'm sayin lol.
Know what you mean! Wow last time I was there was in 99 and before that in 97-98. Getting old lol...

:) Just like another poster said, it needs more than one person participating to count as a race.
I've had similar things happen to me and it can be annoying. Most often it seems to be with cars that you know are not even worth the effort...
On a related note, a couple of months ago I stopped next to a nice shiny M3. We realized at about the same time that we were both staring at each other's cars.
There was a definite pre-race tension; I was convinced that he was going to race, and as the lights changed...
We both amble off at Sunday-driver speed through the school-zone that apparently we both knew was 300 yds down the road. :)
Sometimes it's better to be safe and ticket-free!
6.0 stock vs. a 5.7 is no contest. The GTO will win hands down. An LS2 GTO vs. an SRT-8 is pretty much a driver's race. If the Goat has a 6 speed, and the guy/gal knows how to shift, the SRT will probably lose by 1/2 a length. If it's auto vs auto, and both the drivers are equally matched, I give the race to the SRT8 by 1/4 length. The GTOs have terrible axl hop. Any SRT owners care to comment or flame me? :)
not surprised (ugly GTO beasts)

before any mods, my factory Charger R/T (fully loaded, but stock) routinely smoked the following:

Mustang G/T (always the most fun, it makes them guys sick, they usually slink off to 25 mph afterards or U-Turn back home to change their underwear)

Magnum (just flat out shut 'em down--I like your HEMI, but your car is for groceries AND it looks like a hearse)

Basic Imports

.......however, the only car that concerns me (occassionaly) is the GTO. Even though it looks rediculous--it's trong. Is it me or does it look like some 16 year old's Cavalier on steroids? Who the heck designed that thing!?! It looks completley wack.

STILL, some of those cars are beasts. Remember, the GTO is wide open for all sorts of tuning, etc. Check out the September issue of Hot-Rod---it explained just what's possible with that ugly little GTO. 600 RWHP, no joke. Ugly but brutal. The best they could do with the Charger was 524 RWHP. Strongest of the class.

If the driver's a punk, go for it..... Just don't be surprised if that GTO explodes on down the line, especially if it's tuned out

No worries, we'll get 'em. As soon the Dodge (computer, etc) is completely open, we'll all be #1. We're already #1 when it comes to looks (and feel, and size, etc., etc.), you can't have it all (at least just yet)........

No flame...just comment...I think you are pretty close if both are unmodded.

Thats funny you say that. Back when the mid 90's Camaros came out there was another car out called a Geo Storm (POS), we use to call the 'maros "Storms on Steroids".
