The Chrysler 300 SRT may not be available this year, but don’t count it out of the U.S. just yet.

New spy photos show Chrysler testing a brand new 300 SRT, though the purpose isn’t clear yet. The American automaker gave its sedan a makeover for the 2015 model year, introducing it to the world at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. Shortly after, Chrysler confirmed that the Chrysler 300 SRT would not be sold in the U.S. for 2015, with reports indicating that the model would only be produced for markets outside North America.

Chrysler also folded the SRT brand back into Dodge, which means that moving forward the SRT badge only supposed to be on Dodge vehicles. There is a possibility that the current 300S will get the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine and drop the SRT name altogether, but these spy photos suggest that Chrysler is working on a 2016 300 SRT model.

If the 300 SRT is planning a comeback to the U.S. market, don’t expect it until next year at the earliest. And considering the new 300 was facelifted for the 2015 model year, expect it to stay on the market until a redesign makes its debut for 2019.

When speaking with the Dodge folks are an SRT driving experience they suggested the 300 SRT sold so poorly it didn't make sense. In Australia they don't get the Charger. So I would imagine they will have the 2015/2016 300 SRT.

I would be interested in seeing the 300 with a 6.4L. Be nice to have that luxury ~500hp sedan available in models other than BMW and Mercedes

It's just not going to happen in the North American market. They never sold well enough and they aren't going to deviate from having Dodge be their performance Brand here anytime soon.

Unfortunately, that's probably true. Oh well SRT Charger it is :)

I would jump on this in a second if it happened here in the U.S.

IMO it is a possibility for MY16. With the all new Charger and Challenger lineup it was most likely too difficult to introduce a new 300 SRT at the Canadian plant. They are having a hard time filling orders as I type. With the 300S taking on styling cues (According to Allpar) from the SRT destined for the overseas market, it would not take much to offer the 6.4L as an option for MY16 in the 300S. Once the orders for all the Scat Packs and SRT's are normalized I can see it happening.

I am holding off buying a new ride until they announce the lineup later this year. (I can not justify buying a new Charger with that front end change)

I am talking about the FPV Falcon GTs those may be rear wheel drive sedans, but they come with about 449 HP and 420 Torque with the 5.0 V8.

Ford does not have a rear wheel drive muscle sedan here in the US, only in Australia.
Yes, we have the Shelby Crown Victoria 525. That's pretty much the only Crown Vic still in production, but barely. 525 HP and 670 Torque with the 4.6 supercharged V8.

That is some limited car if only a few existed,

Ford Australia and Holden (Chevrolet) still has mass produced rear wheel drive performance sedans with V8, I am talking about mass produced cars you can easily just buy on a lot at a dealership, not some limited edition or custom car.

Holden Commodores... Falcons... etc. even some lesser trims have turbocharged 6 cylinders.

And yes they have SRT divisions such as Holden HSV and Ford FPV. (FPV is merging into regular Ford)

And Chrysler 300 SRT8 (Australia)

Here in the USA, we have no entry level V8 sedans except for the Dodge Charger R/T and in past the Pontiac G8 (but that is an Australian Import)

at Chevrolet now you have to go luxury with a Cadillac or SS for a V8 RWD sedan.

Isn't the Chevy SS a "limited edition" car, too? GM said they will only produce 2,000-3,000 of it a year.

Correct, and I read somewhere that the SS is going away along with Holden. It is clear that GM is going to abandon the moderately priced V8 RWD market.

So, really, GM just has the CTS-V, Vauxhall VXR8, and HSV Commodore, since the SS is a limited edition car, like Ford's Shelby Vic, and Ford's only performance sedans (NOT in limited quantities) are the XR8 and FPV Falcon (not including the Taurus SHO, since it is not rear-wheel drive, and it also doesn't have a V-8).

Define still in production. AFAIK, Ford hasn't produced a CV body in years.

This thread is sorta getting old, but the Crown Vic still isn't out of production. The Shelby CV525 might have been removed from the official Ford and Shelby websites a long time ago, but it's still available to buy. The CV525 just got updated to make 600 hp. Expect a price of $100K! Originally it had 410 hp.
