Is cop car front suspension really stiffer?

I'm asking this from anyone with experience only because I'm wondering if the ones I got might be a fluke?

My car had sport performance front struts which were okay but not great. So I went to the junkyard and pulled some off of cop car which according to all the information here they should be some of the best

But when I put them on they didn't seem any different than the ones I had before. Not terrible but not what I was expecting They seemed about the same as the sport version. They worked okay but bounced on potholes and speed bumps and tilt on sharp turns

So I'm not sure if this is common or if the ones I got might have been a fluke? I could go to the junkyard and get more but I don't really want to go through the trouble and then pay $100 or more for the parts just to go through the same problem. And no longer have access to a place where I can put them on myself so I would have to pay a mechanic to install them and I really don't want to pay all that money if I'm just going to see that theyre are still the same as the previous ones

So what kind of performance do you guys get from your police struts? Does the car lean during turns still?

How does it handle speed bumps and potholes? How much does it nose dive when you hard brake?

I'll be honest. It sounds like you're looking for a ride that exists only in your mind. You've imagined what should be, and it's completely subjective and you're asking people over the Internet for something we can't answer. Go to a meet & greet and get someone in a Hellcat or something to take you for a ride so you can experience the most sporty suspension and then you'll know... "this is as good as it gets". But asking these questions... going nowhere.
Hold on a second....

You got shocks from a junkyard car for $100, and you're wondering why they aren't performing like you think they should?

How many miles were on that donor car? The LE suspension is known for providing a more firm ride. Some folks call it harsh. I imagine your "new" struts have quite a few miles on them, unless it was a low mileage total. Did you get the springs to go along with them? If not, that may be part of your issue.

It was the front strut spring assembly. It all came together. The weird thing is it didn't feel completely worn out it just felt about the same stiffness as the sport suspension

What year Pursuit are you comparing to what year RT? You might not have the base Pursuit suspension equivalent to what is on the Pursuit or RT that's 4 or 5 years old. Or even a GT with performance handling group.

Way to many factors.

I'll try to get the exact details but I think it was a 2010 pursuit and mine is a 2007 and when I ran the serial number for what I already had it was the sport performance suspension not the standard base

The guy who had the car before me must have put them in

The rear is in the police car turned out to be ****ed too so I don't know maybe it could have been a bad car

There probably was a difference 13-14 years ago when they were new.
I wish I had a dime for every time I've posted this.... this is direct from an SRT engineers chat circa 2009:

The R/T Charger uses 204 lb/in front and and 514 lb/in rear with Nivomat rear shock.
The R/T Challenger uses 224 front 514 rear with Nivomat rear shock, 547 rear without nivomat.
The 300C SRT8 uses 227f, 622r.
The Charger and Magnum SRT8 use 284f, 778r.
The Challenger SRT8 uses 261f, 669r.

SRT8s sit 1/2" lower than the 5.7L and 3.5L rwd cars. The cop car springs are 250f, 652 rear (with Nivomat), but sit even taller than base car due to how they are typically loaded down.
So as you can see the cop car did have 250 lb/in springs up front and the regular R/T only 204... not to mention the cop springs are longer/sit higher.

Also you mention leaning in corners... go back to junk yard and pull the 30mm front sway bar off that cop car and replace your 27mm that will help a bit.

I was going to say the same thing - get that sway bar. The pursuit front spring rates are greater than R/T but less than SRT. Anecdotally (because I never tested this specifically), all the complaints about PPV's come from the Pursuit Goodyear or Firestones. When I swapped to "sports car performance" Michelins (lower profile even) a lot of the harshness went right away.

So you don't think I should try just getting a new pair of front struts from a different cop car?

I don't know what you're trying to accomplish... are the struts bad? I can't imagine the cop car struts in a junkyard are any good so maybe!

I bought a set of SRT8 shocks/springs/struts from a 2010 Challenger SRT8 and put them in my 2006 Charger R/T R&T back in 2011 and they were great there.... that car came OEM with the 30mm front bar so the package worked really well.

The sway bar affect the cornering the springs and struts provide the "ride" harshness on impact and rebound etc.

NEW is the word. Springs and struts wear out. Unless you find ones in a junk yard that were recently replaced in the last few years they probably aren't better then what you already had and won't give much if any benefit using them.
