Neither is an inlet, but both are outlets. It's a one way valve. When the air pressure within the intake manifold crosses a threshold the PCV closes. When the air in the intake manifold is low enough, usually at idle, the low air pressure will pull the valve open and suck the gas/oil/air mixture out of the crankcase. So the valve is the one you circled on the far left. It's only open at idle, or very low speed, and any air below it in the crankcase, is sucked back into the intake manifold for reburning.

Thanks for clarifying that. So it would be the same thing with oil catch cans, right?
