So due to recent incidents, I have been watching my gauges closely. I used the Tazer to unlock my SRT pages so I can see all of the gauges on the uconnect display. Yesterday, while at a drive through for about 30 minutes, I noticed that my IAT reached about 165 while the ambient temp was around 65. I've never heard of a situation where the IAT is 100 degrees over ambient especially with the stock airbox. Everything else seemed within normal operating range though. My coolant and oil temps were both at 214. Should I be concerned? Is it possible that maybe the IAT sensor is bad? Stupid question, but a dirty air filter wouldn't cause the temps to be that high would it? I plan on opening up the airbox today to take a look at it. This is on a 2014 Charger R/

Like the above post stated, nothing to worry about, Unless, you get moving along at a good speed, are not in stop and go traffic and the AIY temps do not go back down or stop dropping.

The only other option is to install a 180°F thermostat. You will still get heat soak but everything (IAT, fluids, etc ...) will be approximately 20°F cooler. The thermostat itself is cheap enough, and easy enough to install, but you need to change the electric cooling fan settings in the PCM; and to do this you need a DiabloSport programmer.

Charger's used a short IAT probe, which allowed it to easily get heat soaked. I installed a challenger IAT, which sticks further into the air stream. Made a huge difference in the readings.

Interesting stuff PD. Are they interchangeable from model year to model year or do the IAT sensors cover a range of years?

Are the IAT readings going to affect how much timing and fuel the PCM throws at the engine or is it just a benefit from an accuracy standpoint?

165 seems high to me. I'll have to watch my intake air temps more closely this summer when it gets over 100. Yesterday I was stuck in slow moving traffic for about 20 minutes on the highway. It was 87 outside and the highest the intake temp hit was about 125 with the stock airbox (which is much better than the AF dynamic intake I just took back off).
