Hey guys,
I'm glad to be on the site and have finally registered after weeks of ghost-scrolling in anticipation of ordering my very first FCA product. First off, let me thank everyone for the tremendous resource that this forum is to guys like me. Just reading the questions and answers of so many owners/fans on here has been as awesome as it is informative.
Well, I'll cut right to the chase. I'm 30 years old and live in NYC, and I finally decided that it's time to get rid of my 2011 Mustang GT coupe (which I daily drive) and factory order my first new car. After years of never even considering a Dodge product (my dad worked for Ford and Cadillac before his retirement, so I was biased), I eventually became disillusioned with the green-minded sycophancy of Ford and GM and decided to switch teams. I just couldn't stand the political posturing of Ford's and GM's executives anymore, and my ideological differences with their companies finally paired with my affection and admiration for Dodge's big V8 sedans in perfect harmony.
Yesterday, I called around to some friends of friends who are in the business, and made a deal to order a new '21 Scat. The order was submitted last night, and I'm currently waiting on a VON/VIN from Brampton. Here's what I ordered, if you're curious:
-' 21 Scat regular body
I didn't want the Dynamics Package, and who the hell spends $1000 for navigation these days, especially when UConnect comes with Apple and Android compatibility? Not I.
I did, however, want performance 275s for summer use, since I plan to buy a winter set of winter tires/wheels for our relatively moderate winter months here in the big apple anyway. To achieve this, the dealer I purchased from is going to mount new summer performance tires on the car upon delivery and credit me for the 245s that they take off. I'll pay the difference in cost, of course, and probably order my winter set from TireRack later on.
Now for the big question: When the hell is Brampton going to build the car? I know shutdowns have occurred in the past and are normally short-lived, but I'd like the car by mid to late Spring before the weather gets really nice up here, and the prospect of an equipment shortage - rather than the normal business lull or labor dispute - affecting such a large American car manufacturer is disconcerting, at the very least. Is there an end in sight? Are customer preferred orders taking precedence since Dodge knows these cars are already spoken for? Is ANY production occurring, or all the workers still sitting on their asses at home while they wait for FCA to allocate them some semiconductors?
Anyway, glad to be here, and needless to say, I'm looking forward to delivery!
