Hello everyone!

I tried to search around, but I didn't find anything specific. I noticed on my vehicles CarFax that there is an open recall for the ignition. In my 2008, the ignition feels OK but it does feel a bit "loose" when they key is inserted. Can I just take it to the dealer, no questions asked, and get the work done? I saw the actual recall letter, but it states that apparently there are no parts to fix it, but that is dated from a few years back.

Anyone have experience with this?

I got one of the recall notices in the mail a few months ago. It states that the parts to correct the issue are unavailable and a notice will be sent when the parts become available.

Doesn't specify a time frame, so I don't know when it will be done. I know that I haven't seen any issues with our car, so not really sure what to expect.

^What he said about the recall.

I've experienced the issue the recall talks about. You turn the key to start, and it doesn't spring back all the way to run. You'll know it happened because the radio won't be on, the climate control won't work, and the power windows won't work (as well as probably some other things that get power cut to them while the engine is cranking).

The solution is just to turn the key a little to get it to the run position. It took me about three minutes to figure this out the first time it happened, and it was only by accident when I went to turn the car off and restart it (the ol' ctrl-alt-del technique) that I noticed the key hadn't made it back to the run position. Now that I know this can happen, I'm just a little more deliberate when I start the car and I haven't had any more issues.

I've had the same issue, which is why I ask, and I hope it's not dangerous. But when I start the car sometimes, the key won't "bounce" back, so the car won't let me shift out of P. I have to just nudge it left a bit and voila, it works fine.

I guess for now I shouldn't worry about it?

Yep...and until they come out with the replacement part to fix it, there's not much you can do anyway unless you want to waste money replacing the part with the same defective part out of inventory somewhere.
