I recently bought a 2010 charger sxt 3.5L and want to upgrade my engine and others from stock. Any thoughts/Ideas/suggestions?

I'm not sure all of what I will need to buy. I know i want a CAI because my intake is stock and the exhaust too but i have no clue about brands and what else will need to change etc.

I want BIGGER and FASTER!

Depends on your budget and how far you want to go. A stock R/T exhaust is fairly easy to adapt, I have one if you want to get it (depending on location). Basics are suually CAI, exhaust and tuner (not in any particular order). You can stroke a 3.5 out to 4.0 and custom tune it. Is it your daily driver? A good upgrade for handling that's a bit cheaper than aftermarket is to throw in SRT shocks/springs with the police sway bars. This is what I have in my R/T and it works exceedingly well.

Hemi, I'm in Texas, so probably no can do.
I can probably afford $200 a month right now. I'll be doing most of the installing myself (hopefully). Minus the exhaust.

Yes this is my daily driver and i love it so far (even though its stock).
What differece does "SRT shocks/springs with the police sway bars" make?

rob-2 are you saying i should just get a different charger all together?

It really depends on what your ultimate goals really are. The 3.5L will give you great fuel economy whether you have the 42RLE 4 speed or the NAG1 5 speed. Remember that it does have 250 hp net and 250 ftlbs of torque net at the crank. If you are planning to make it a strip car then you would want to get a 5.7 or 6.1 but if you want a good consistent street and strip car that will win races then you are fine with what you have.

We have worked with a lot of 3.5L V6 SOHC engines and have got some really good power and mileage out of them.

Put ACES IV in the fuel and QuantumBlue in the engine, trans and differential along with the QuantumBlue HP Gold coolant and you could see 15 hp anyway along with a 2-3 mpg increase at the same time.

Just because it is not a Hemi doesn't mean you can't have a fast car with a lot of fun at the same time. Remember too that the 3.5L is really more Hemi than the Hemis are Hemi! :beerchug:

Brian

Handling. Even my stock R/T was mushy. The SRT springs/shocks are stiffer without compromising ride too much and drops the car about 3/4"-1". The police sway bars are the biggets available factory sway bars and also assist with better handling (as do wider tires).

I have the same car. I have Predator tuner, R/T Exhaust, and a generic CAI. I've never dyno'ed her but each upgrade seems to add a little more. I noticed with the predator not all fuel is the same. Different gas stations give different results. I recently dropped tune from 93 to 91 and started filling up with Fastrac's 91 non-ethanol. Man that stuff is rocket fuel. I was getting low 14's on 93, I think.

Lessons I learned:
Predator: not much can go wrong here. I upgraded the ROM on it before I got started. Why put an old ROM on your car? Cost=$200 used
CAI: Since it's a V6, a generic CAI is OK. Cost=$40 new
R/T exhaust: It will work. My friend installed mine but I had a lot of drone. It eventually got worse so I took it to a shop. Now it's quiet, like a stock exhaust should be. Cost=$100 for used exhaust $50 for installation.

If you do these upgrades I think you'd be happy. I also suggest you check out the V6 performance thread at http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122930. You'll find all of this plus more there.

So buy another car is what you're telling me lol

Hello here from Texas as well!

Ultimately it depends on what your main goal is, and your budget!

If your main goal is performance, how much horsepower are you looking to get?

If you are tight on money, you may be only to keep your current car for the time being and do some small mods here and there!

As mentioned, do the usuals, such as exhaust, cold air intake (CAI), and change out your fluids, such as going with ACES IV!

As mentioned above, I used to have a 2008 Charger SXT and one of the mods I did was to replace the exhaust with an R/T exhaust! It was true dual exhaust, where on the SXT it is just single! Keep the resonators on it, otherwise you will get the drone at certain RPMs!

If you can somehow afford it though, you would be better off getting an R/T!
