Hello All,

My 1/06 production date SRT-8 hood struts wore out. 52k on the odometer. If there is a breeze, the hood won't stay open.

Has anyone else experienced this? Was it covered under your extended warranty?

I may just purchase them outright instead of going to the dealer.

Anyone else?

Not my hood, but my truck ones are going out on mine. I have 46k on it. When I hit the trunk release, it barely pops up now.

To answer the question, I would just buy and replace the supports myself. They are an easy uninstall/install. Five minutes for both of them would be a long time.

at least your car came with hood struts 07 and up you had to buy them and put them on
now the ones on my 2003 dodge ram are fine

It is an SRT-8 - standard equipment.

Mine just went out after about 3 1/2 years. I had added them myself - purchased the kit from moparsupercenter so no warranty for me. I have a replacement set on order now.
