SO...

Installing my MR Gasket hood locks today and iv'e run into a MAJOR problem.

Im hoping someone here has some ideas.

The bolt on the bottom of the hood lock apparently was not designed with ram air hoods in mind. There isnt enough nut to go thru BOTH layers of hood and still have room for the bottom washer and nut to grab on to.

I'm thinking the only solution I have is to cut away a large piece of the bottom section of hood and have the backing washer and nut fit on that way? do you guys have any suggestions?

and no I don't want pins. I love the way the locks look on my car!!

Get a longer bolt, then cut-n-grind to proper length..

I got it done eventually. It was a royal P.I.T.A. though.

It works great. Hood is nice and secure but for as nice as they look, I should have just went with conventional pins.

All in all job took about 4 hours. Having to lineup the little pins on the bottom of the lock with the bolts mounted to the rad cradle was near impossible.
