You don't lose your clutch on street tires unless you have a really bad driver or poor clutch design

Sounds like strip tires and the extra traction put too much burden on the clutch

I see this car being around 11.5 AT BEST with street tires

275s with RWD only will not get you into the 10s

I could not find out if the 11.2 secs "on stock 275/40's" was with Auto or 6M. Anyway, that is one fast production car. I wonder if it comes standard with a Drive shaft safety loop installed. This is approaching roll cage required at the track.:beerchug:

Based on the video someone else posted in the other thread, it looks like it was Auto (the 8-speed is faster than the 6 by all accounts I've read).

$65,000k. I would be getting a 2014 Corvette Stingray, the most capable standard Corvette ever. Equipped with the available Z51 Performance Package, the new Stingray is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, braking from 60 to 0 in 107 feet, and sustaining 1.03 g in cornering. The 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe goes on sale in the third quarter of 2013 for a suggested starting retail price of $51,995, excluding tax, title, and license fees. The $2,800 Z51 Performance Package includes an electronic limited-slip differential; dry-sump oiling system; integral brake, differential and transmission cooling; as well as a unique aero package that further improves high-speed stability. Magnetic Ride Control with Performance Traction Management is a $1,795 option.

Throw on headers, x-pipe, catback, cai, and tuning and the car would be even faster and still less than a hellcat. Plus you wouldn't be at a redlight with a challenger on 28" rims next to you...

Sure the 707hp might help the big box accelerate on the straights up until wind drag becomes a factor.

11.2 with street tires.

10.8 with street legal drag radials.

And you know that car was a production spec model?

So the laws of Physics don't apply to the Challenger, right?

lbs per HP
Corvetter ZR1 5.26
Viper 5.25
GT500 5.88
Challenger Hellcat 6.14

lbs per torque
Corvetter ZR1 5.55
Viper 5.61
GT500 6.17
Challenger Hellcat 6.68

65,000k. I would be getting a vette instead.
Not me, I love the Challenger and I love the Hellcat.

I just believe we need to be realistic on the performance.

I will probably buy either the Challenger Hellcat

or I might try to snag the 2015 300 SRT8 with the 8 speed if they produce it. That should be low to mid 12s and still have about the same gas mileage as I have now in my old 2006.

Not feeling the Dart-Charger styling

That is some funny stuff there bro

But.....a Hellcat will run away and hide from a stock Stingray - at least on the straights.

And you can carry 4 adults

Different class

The higher powered hellcat would have an advantage from 100-170mph. But the big box air drag would slow down the acceleration on the challenger. Both cars are about 11-12 second seconds in the 1/4 miles. The vette would have an easier time reaching the higher speeds and eventually it's 19x mph top speed. The hellcat would remain within distance the whole time. Throw in one or two curves which requiring braking and the vette easily slides ahead.

But your right it's unfair to compare a sports car to a muscle car. But it is fair to compare a 58k sports car to a 65k muscle car.

I am agreeing with you on this one. They are going to produce a 2015 300SRT with the 8 speed. With the 4.71 first gear and 3.09 final drive. The SRT's with the 8 speed are going to be plenty fast for me. The 300 SRT is on my list!:beerchug:

Those track times posted according to the ALLPAR forum came from the Hellcat Automatic not the manual.

No...not really. The Challenger is a big car that you use to transport more than one person (to those of us who aren't in the market simply for a race car, that's important).

Personally, a Corvette would would about as worthless to me as having a third arm growing out of my forehead...I have absolutely zero use for a 2-seat car. So for people (like me) would still like to have big power thrills, but full-size car hauling capacity when necessary, it makes a lot more sense than buying a Vette.

Not that I'm even planning on buying a Hellcat (the right foot says "Yes", but the Bank Account says "No")...just pointing out that there is a market for the car, and despite what (GM Pays) the car magazines say, not everyone thinks the Corvette is always the best choice for their automotive dollars.

I forgot about the advantage of the auto

yeahm the 300 is so much better looking to me

Add in 0.3 for a stick and maybe 0.2 more for an average driver and you are around 11.7 which is where I expect this car to be

A Hellcat Charger would be perfect I think. I like the 2 doors but they really don't meet my needs. Thats why I got the Charger when I did. I also like to go fast in a short amount of time thus the SRT8. A hellcat in the Charger would be perfect. They should also offer a QWD of the Hellcat, it would be a beast on the street.
I have my Jeep SRT now because of the need of the space for the dog. I would like to see a Hellcat Jeep but I don't think it will happen.
I just hope with the increased value of the Hellcat's cost, Chrysler steps up their dealerships customer service. Without sounding stuck up, but people that pay 60k and up for a car want to be treated a certain way. On the Jeep side with that expensive SRT over there pushing 70k, I hear all the time how poorly they get treated by the dealership.
At the end of the day the Monster Hellcat is a great motor to have in the lineup and it is bragging right for us mopar fans.
I just hope it last longer than the first Gen Hemi did. These new CAFE standards will push these awesome cars to a small production number at some point.

I want this, beautiful muscle car look, power, and every reason to keep it stock!

Not sure if any of you saw this vid of the gas monkey guy running a 10.85 at 126mph in the new Hellcat on what looks to be the stock Pirelli's. :eyemouth:

There you go trade your Charger in for one. Orders open August 8 from what I've heard. I'm sure they will sell fast.
