The Charger replaced the Intrepid.. GET OVER IT! It is a hell of a lot better than the Ford 500 or Impala SS (Weren't those both High performance models back in the 60's? And weren't they 2 Drs? DCX is just rolling with the flow). Any arguements here? Would you rather have a Charger R/T (Or SRT-8), or one of those? It is not 1969 anymore, and the sale of large 2Dr cars is not as strong as it used to be. What is out there now? The GTO and the Monte Carlo, The last Ford was the Thunderbirs, and it dies, the 2 Dr Grand Prix never came anywhere close to the 4Dr in sales. Id rather a 4dr Charger than ANY of those. The Charger was NEVER competition to the Mustang, Fairlane and Chevelle yes, but not the Stang. If DCX builds a Challenger to compete with the Stang, that would be cool, but that is a different subject all together. DCX will OWN the Police market when the Charger police special comes to market. There is the only reason to hate the new Charger, the Driver will probably be issuing you a ticket!!! Peace Murf

Murf,

As a passionate Mustang owner who is within an inch of buying a Charger R/T, I couldn't agree with you more. I don't think the cars are in direct competition, but I do think it's very smart of DCX to build a car that will grab the Mustang owners who want something a bit more... hurts to even say it... practical.

But, haters will be haters...

Amen, if they can sway a few Potential GTO and Mustang buyers with the Hemi, Charger name and a Fastback rooflie, more power to them, the real Competition (IF you want to call it that is the 500 / Impala / Grand Prix / Montego?) Actually it is brilliant marketing, if you think about it. Peace Murf

Ok... Persoanlly I would have rather seen the nameplate go to a 2 door muscle car... but it didn't.... but I like the car no matter what nameplate it uses.... and thats all that matters.... the name used on the car is not going to make me not buy one... so why argue about it... if you dont like the car or the car is not for you, then I guess it is a mute point....

I just saw the first black Charger R/T version this weekend. Unfortunately, the dealership was closed due to the holidays.

Man! In person, it is alot better than those rag sheets picutres could do any justice for this car. Looks great in person.

However, the dealership is gaulging the public by upping the MSRP by 5K dollars.

No i'm gonna tell ya'll what's not practical. The RX8!!!! :fuming: Have any of you seen that back seat?? a child can't even fit back there.(Story time)So me and my friend go test driving when we get bore on the weekends. or if something new comes out(by the way go check out the new saleen focus first product car to come w/NOS standard the thing is a beast :jeez: )anyway he likes RX8s i think their ugly and perfer the 7s & 6s over it. So when i go to open the third door low and behold the center console goes all the way back!!! Mind you now that this is technicaly a 2dr car that they just cut into the rear fender. So i'm like maybe it just looks small. but during the test drive i'm in pain back there and i'm not the biggest man on the block(5'9'' 150lbs)so that thing is just wrong!!!

I do like the 4 doors on the charger, in fact that is why I would certainly buy one, I currently have a car seat in the back of my T/A and it is a major chore getting my son in and out of the car...also my front passenger seat has to be positioned fully forward..so I can not have a front passenger while my son is in his child seat...this does not make for a very good family car..........so basically the Charger R/T is a great option for someone like me who enjoys V8, rear drive, muscle cars and driving the family around as well.......I also think they are the best looking cars to come around in a while...

Sorry fellas, been a while since I said anything. But this here is my point exactly. Hate to give up the stang...Many fond memories  But I've been saving my dimes for a car like this to come along. 300 errbody got it, plus a little too nice. Magnum almost there but still a wagon. Charger just right.

Just because I am a junior member doesn't mean I do not know a lot about the Charger. This forum is a Charger forum. That means we relate things to Chargers. I don't care what kind of member you are. I probably know more things than you about the Charger.

1950 Chrysler Highlander 440
1959 Willys CJ-5 350
1964 Fury 440
1964 Chrysler 300K Long Ram 413 [email protected]
1965 Barracuda (Built 360) [email protected]
1967 BelvidereII convertible 318 Poly (Very early build date)
1967 Kaiser M-715 440
1968 Dart 225/3spd
1968 RoadRunner 383 / 4spd [email protected]
1969 383 Auto Superbee [email protected]
1969 Coronet 500 (Built 360) 14.00 @ 98
1970 440+6 4 Spd Petty Blue Superbird (Currently owned by "BK" on Moparstyle.net)[email protected]
1976 Aspen R/T 318 / [email protected]
1977 Ramcharger 360

1981 Trailduster 360
1983 Ram 350 Crew cab duallie Cummins
1987 Shelby Lancer 2.2 Turbo II
2 1995 grand Cherokee 4.0
1996 Grand Cherokee 5.2
1998 Corvette targa [email protected]
1998 Grand Cherokee 5.9 [email protected]

I Currently own:
1997 Grand Cherokee 4.0
1998 Wrangler 4.0
1999 3500 Ram Club Cab Cummins
2005 Neon ACR/SRT-4 [email protected] (Stage3 Ordered!)

Of the 25 Vehicles I have owned, 21 Have been Mopars, (23 if you consider Willys/Kaiser are know owned by DCX), The only 4 dr cars I have owned are my ACR and Lancer, and you know what, I would rather have a 4Dr Charger SRT-8 Than ANY of my old Mopars. It will run circles aroun every one of them (Except my Cuda and Little Red Express), IMO looks as good as any of them, and is way more practical, maybe it will not turn heads like my Superbird, but I dont think that is a bad thing. I think right now is the best time in the history of Chrysler for the the Mopar enthusiast. My SRT-4 will soon be as fast as any of my old cars, with all factory engineered parts, the SRT-8 line is unbelieveble, not to mention the SRT-10 trucks and Viper. They no make an improved equivalen of every performance vehicle they ever made.

Viper > The world
SRT-4 > A-body
Charger SRT-8 > B-Body
300 SRT-8 > C-body
SRT-10 > LRT
Power Wagon > PowerWagon
Rubicon > Any 4x4 ever made
Challenger? If what I've heard is true > E-body

I guess that is why I hang around here, I've been waiting for Mopar to truly climb to the top, now I'm like a kid at Christmas. Peace Murf
