I have been tossing the idea around of a backup camera in place of the trunk lock, but I've only seen posts about doing this that required the hole be enlarged by drilling it out slightly.

I just want to ask if anyone has found a camera that will fit the stock hole. I'd like to avoid enlarging it, as I like the idea of all of my mods being reversible...

Thanks.

Just found this system:

http://store.visorview.com/visor-view-iv-58visormonitorwithflushmountbulletcamera.aspx

Which has a real clean in-visor install and says the camera hole required is .75 inches.

I found a thread yesterday that said:

Just for fun I just measured the lock that came out of the hole. The smallest part of the lock barrel is just under 7/8 of an inch, or 22 mm, or .849 or 849/1000

So maybe this one would fit?

I helped nickinfleet put his in, but can't remember if we had to do any drilling. Shoot him a PM.

They have some that are one size fit all that "snap" into the hole with retaining clips. I just ordered one for my Charger last night, I found the universal fit one after I ordered mine.
Do you have a link? Let me know how it works out after you install it.

I saw the link floating around on this forum for the one-size fit all (snap in camera), but can't remember where I saw it at. So instead I bought this camera here two days ago. I will do a write up and review on the camera once it gets here. Hopefully it gets here this weekend so I can install it.

i bought today smth like this.

inner diameter is 20 or 22mm (0.787" or 0.866")

will install tommorow and make some pics
Can't wait to see how it comes out!

If you could, take some pics of the screen too, preferably w/ some low obstruction placed behind the car- One concern I've had with this is that you can't see low enough, so if you were backing up to a curb you wouldn't be able to see it in the view. I've been thinking the angle ring that comes with the cameras would take care of this...

little bit dirty ))

remove plastic cover

closer look

pull out bracket

now you can take out lock but you need to detach plastic clip

closer look of plastic clip

thats all

lock compared with camera

camera is thicker than lock for about 0.5mm (0.019") maybe less
so it was tighten up till the end of the thread on the camera

then i took file and started to work ))

removed coat of paint

dont forget to take rubber ring from lock
