Hello all,
After my multiple posts (color of wheels, what are the right lugnuts, worth it to upgrade to 20" wheels), I wanted to consolidate the outcome in one location.
I ended up sticking with my factory 19" wheels. I had a shop blast the PVD coating off (it took them well over 2 hours to do so), then had them powder-coated in gloss black. I also bought some size-appropriate lugnuts, and black gloss center caps. Finally got everything back and installed, and I think it makes a huge difference. There are a few before and after pictures below. I didn't take any closeups of the wheels before, but there were numerous chips and many areas where the clear was peeling and/or flaking. But even separate of that, I think the gloss black looks much better, as does having the right lugnuts.
Quick side note on the center caps: I purchased a set of 4 from eBay, and each one broke when installing. I'm not sure if they were just cheaply made or more brittle or what. I can't imagine the powder coating was thick enough to cause fitment issues, especially since the PVD (which was on THICK) didn't lead to any issues.
Though it's not wheels or suspension-related, I also installed a new grill badge and subtle chin spoiler. The car is a bit dirty, but it sort of looks like a new ride to me.
