So, I do not know EXACTLY what fixed it, but in short, I backed up all of my data and did a restore on my phone!

After that, I went in and let it do all of the downloads and updates!

When I went to pair my phone, it asked me to have access to messaging, which it never did the first time!

I just saw the posting for the new update for UCONNECT, however have not installed it yet!

Messaging working

Great find !! A couple of questions about how you got it to work. Is it still currently working for you? You mentioned that you did a factory reset. Is that the same reset under the backup area? Did you have a lock screen set when you did the pairing process? Did you change the pairing code at all on the u-connect or use the default 0000.

I have an AT&T LG G3 on Android 5.0.1. I am very interested in getting the messaging to work. I have been messing with this quite some time.

Yes, it is still working for me! I check it every once in awhile just to make sure!

Yes, it is the "Backup and Reset" option under User and Backup section!

I think I did have a lockscreen set, using the fingerprint scanner on the S5!

I still used the default 0000

Well unfortunately what you tried did not work for me. I tried what you did twice and still unable to get the messaging working, i never get a prompt to allow messaging on my phone during pairing. Strangely enough all the blue tooth features work on my wife's 2014 5.0 system in her durango, but wont work with my more upgraded 8.4 beats system, so friggin annoying to not have this simple feature work in a 30,000 car!

From what i have read and researched not many phones will work with messaging on our 8.4 system. I wish u-connect , android, apple etc... would get this supposed universal Bluetooth stuff to work, Its a safety issue.

I just picked up an S6 edge and messaging works for it too. It did not work with my 2014 moto X, so it must be a Samsung thing.
I have the normal S6. I was going to go for the edge but I just couldn't get used to the fold over screen. It works just fine with my car =)

I have also been able to get messaging working on my S5. I thought I'd share my observations.

I picked up my S5 on Tuesday. Like others, messaging wasn't working on Uconnect radio. So I looked here and found this thread. I was hopeful thati could figure it out since others said they were successful. But everything I tried didn't work.

That night the phone prompted for a software update. I hoped that would fix it. It didn't. However, on Wednesday the phone prompted for a second update. That update was an android update. The phone was updated from 4.4.4 to 5.0.

I hoped again that the update would fix the messaging issue. I got in the car to test and the messaging button still wasn't available. I was frustrated to say the least. So I thought I'd try re-pairing the phone to the radio. I deleted my phone from the device list on the radio and unpaired the radio from my phone. Well, when pairing this time, there was a new prompt for accessing messaging. Said yes and I'm good to go. Messaging is working finally. Woohoo!

So it appears that Google corrected this issue in the 5.0 version of the OS. The key, though, is to delete your phone from the radio and the radio from your phone after the update so that you can re-pair and get the new messaging prompt.

Hope this helps.

Jeremy
