I have a question about the SRT-8 Hood Scoop. The intake seems to be the same as on the 5.7's so is the "functional" hood scoop just for cooling the engine? And not actually forcing any air into the intake?
That is correctamundo! It forces outside air into the entire engine compartment, and also acts as a heat extractor. Just like the Ram SRT10. Regards !!! Mike
So there really isn't any actuall HP gain from the hood scoop on the SRT-8, just will keep the engine cooler? Which I realize "could" result in more HP, but on something like a dyno would not show since your not in motion.
Correct. Dynos are increasingly not able to accurately reporduce what a modern car does in the real world. Dinan is able to make a BWM produce a 50-75whp range just by how much airflow he hits the car with.
And he admits even his soon to be built $100K test cell won't be able reproduce what BWM uses to tune the cars.
