Can somebody tell me where is the fuel filter located on my 2008 Dodge Charger R/T with a 5.7L HEMI engine??
No replacement recommended or required.Greetings from SoFla Don,
Thanx much, that explains why I couldn't find it under the hood. I wanted to change it as part of a normal servicing job like the oil & air filters, but it's not on Dodge's maintenance schedules either. Do you know if they need to be replaced periodically or are they good for the life of the pump?? I've seen that on other cars.
Have a GREAT week, Dave
Crazy how? Any gas pump installed in the last few decades is going to have a filter that will stop flow if it passes water and usually filters the gas at at anywhere from 10-30 microns. That's smaller than anything that will be caught by "the sock" on your fuel pump. That's one reason ... it could also be the fuel pressure regulator. The earlier LX Dodge Chargers (2006 - 2010?) have the fuel pressure regulator attached to the auxiliary fuel pump module. You pull the fuel pump from the tank and the fuel pressure regulator can be removed/replaced. I'm not sure the last model year that had a removable fuel pressure regulator.
With the later LD Dodge Chargers (2011 - current) the fuel pressure regulator is integrated with the auxiliary fuel pump module and is not serviced separately. The auxiliary fuel pump module must be replaced if the fuel pressure regulator is to be replaced.
So you would think this makes the service for LD Chargers simpler ... low fuel pressure ... replace the auxiliary fuel pump. Not so fast. The fuel pressure regulator is integrated with the auxiliary fuel pump module but the fuel filter is located at the bottom of the main fuel pump module.
So which fuel pump do you replace? Simple ... you replace both fuel pumps.

This is crazy design...FCA tried to save a $1.00 on an inline filter....Now huge costs to owners ..Yikes..
Time marches forward.
