Chrysler. The gang in Auburn Hills is pumping up the Hemi for enthusiasts looking for some extra oomph. The new 6.1-liter version of the Hemi will put out 425 HP and will be available next spring in the upcoming Chrysler 300 SRT-8 - the enthusiast version of Chrysler's ultra-hot 300C. A Magnum SRT-8 will follow, and then look for the 2006 Charger SRT-8 to make its debut at next January's Detroit Auto Show - right before it makes its debut in the Daytona 500 in February. But don't hold your breath, Mopar fans - the Charger that will appear at Daytona will be sufficiently "dumb-downed" by NASCAR's ultra-restrictive common body template rules, so that the on-track Charger will bear little resemblance (and have little of the design appeal) of the sleek four-door Coupe street car.

Thanks for posting that. I thought that may have had something to do with the "Ugly" reference that came out of the Nascar rumor mill. Hopefully, the charger will be all we hope for.
