I finally got my SLP underdrive pulley installed today. Call me a fraidy-cat but instead of risking life, limb and damage to my Charger I opted to have it installed professionally. It cost more than I expected but at least I got it in. The bill came out to $300. The part that was confusing is that three of my friends all told me that they've done business with this same shop in the past and they all advised me to bring some "goodies". So, I loaded up the back seat with 2 cases of Heineken, 2 cases of Diet Coke and a case of bottled water which all came to $100 thanks to my Safeway club card. So all in all I ended up spending $400 for the pulley install. Meh.. oh well.

Do I notice a difference? Honestly, no. I can't say that I do. I expected the engine to rev a little faster but I suppose the change is so small that I probably can't even perceive it. After all, its the totallity of the mods that matters. ;)

Next up? Well, I'm really looking at the Kook's LTs and SLP LM1 resonators and tips. After consideration I think I like the Kooks LTs over the SLPs only because each individual exhaust tube on the Kooks appears to be more equa-distant to the collector which in my mind should make for a better exhaust header. Amazing what you can learn just from looking at pictures on the internet, ain't it? Further, I'll probably just order the SLP LM1 resonators and tips instead of the entire cat-back package. Shipping should be cheaper and I don't see why I can't let ESH furnish the pipes when they do the install.

Guess you don't need me on Saturday. Have you had a chance to run it really hard yet? I figured it would have at least been a nocitible RPM change.

I wish I would have waited. I think we could have managed it well enough. Guess I'll strike this one up for "Live and Learn".
Welcome from Texas!

Woot! Man, that thing is BEASTLY! I can't wait! It must sound like a freight train coming down the road! :bigthumb:

Has anyone got any experience with these Moroso Aluminum Coolant & Power Steering Tanks? I think they look totally sick and would combine nicely with some stainless braided lines and some chrome or polished aluminum valve covers. Or, maybe I'll just go with the aluminum coolant tank and then CF covers on the PS res and fuse box, CF radiator cover, firewall cover and strut covers. And then add a full BT dress up kit and satin finish catch can w/braided lines. Yeah, all of that combined with that intake... awesome! :bigthumb: Argh! Then I'll have to smooth and paint my intake manifold!

Hmmm... maybe I'll leave it stock. :biggrinjester:

I installed the coolant tanks on both of my Chargers. Very easy install and everything fit perfectly. The only problem with them as far as looks is that after awhile the welds turn a whitish color. I'll probably end up painting both, but they sure look better than that ugly plastic.

soon to be on your car they are for sale now and we should be vendors on the site by the end of the week.
Is there a science behind the funky tube shape or is it just for looks? Also does that shape translate on the inside of the tube or is is just a outer design element?

Thanks,

Since the new CAI should be here relatively soon I postponed the LT order and pulled the trigger on some pretty mods instead.

- Moroso Aluminum Coolant Tank
- BT Underhood Dress Up Kit (statin - R/T)
- BT Catch Can (Satin)
- Fuse Box Catch Can Mounting Bracket (Satin)
- Stainless Braided Lines for Catch Can (red connectors)
- Stainless Braided Lines for Coolant Tank front and rear (red connectors)

I think thats everything. That all came to less than half of the cost of the LTs and since I have a family vacation coming up I feel less guilty in spending the money. Later I'll get some added CF stuff to really accentuate the new CAI. It should all be real nice once I get them all installed.

I got a delivery from BMC Performance today. I had ordered the Moroso Aluminum Coolant Tank, Aluminum Water Neck, Braded Lines F/R for Coolant Tank and Braded Lines for Fuse Box Mounted Catch Can. I got everything except the Water Neck. However, something I didn't order was also in the box... the Moroso Aluminum Power Steering Reservior. I'm guessing the guy that packed my order goofed in my favor so I'm willing to call it even. :biggrinjester:

The install was easy. It took me about an hour to get them both in. They look great and are a big improvement over the stock items. I did not install the rear coolant tank braded line yet because I haven't yet decided on how I'm going to do it.

I have yet to hear from BT regarding my order (Catch Can, Fuse Box Mount, Underhood Dress Up Kit). I've called and left a message. Nada. I'll try earlier tomorrow and hopefully get a live body on the other end.

Was it pretty messy to install? Give some details on this install. I think I might order this soon!!!

Naw, it was pretty clean.

*Keep the Caps ON the Tanks*

If you're going to do both tanks I think the best way to do it is to remove the CAI so you have some room. Then seperate the PS tank from the coolant tank via the little tab that you simply push to the side with your thumb. The PS tank should slide right up out of the little slots on the coolant tank where it rests. Once the PS tank is free make sure you have the cap firmly installed and then you can push the tank down and twist it upside down toward the ground in the area under where your CAI filter use to sit. With the PS tank upside down you can slide the hose clamps down the hose a bit so you can remove the hoses. With the PS tank cap in place and the tank upside down you can gently work the two hoses from the bottom of the tank. I managed to do this without spilling a drop. Set the PS tank to the side someplace where it will stay upside down and won't get knocked over. Leave the PS fluid in the tank for now.

Get your new coolant tank and install the hoses onto the bottle nozzles and slide the clamps in place. This will prevent any drips from messing up your engine bay. Leave the PS tank hanging down below out of the way for now.

Now for the coolant tank. I didn't remove any of the fluid from the tank since it didn't really look like I could get enough out to really make much of a difference. Remove the two bolts at the rear of the coolant tank to free it from the fender well. Remove the top hose from the coolant tank and hook it on something so it will stay out of your way and pointed up so it won't drain fluid. Now you can slide the clamp on the bottom hose off of the nozzle so the hose will be free to pull away when the time comes.

Yes, I know there is a bunch of coolant in the tank and you don't want to spill it all over your clean engine bay when you unhook the bottom hose. Here is where I used the same trick used in swapping T-stats. I used a 1 gallon ziploc and placed it under the bottom tank nozzle and hose. Be very patient and slowly work the hose off of the bottom nozzle. Make sure you have your ziploc bag in place. It helps to sort of wrap the top of the bag around the nozzle/hose. Once the hose comes off the fluid will drain out from the hose and the tank. This will fill the bag to about 1/3. When you're satisfied the fluid has drained remove the newly freed tank from the engine bay and prop the bottom tank hose upward on something so it won't continue to drain.

The Moroso tank comes with two nozzles which will need to be screwed into the tank. The small one goes on the top under the coolant tank cap and the larger brass elbow goes on the front. These are for the overflow hose. Make sure the elbow is pointed up. These are tapered so screw them in tightly with a wrench and you shouldn't have any leaks. At this time you can go ahead and install either the factory black rubber hose from the OEM tank to your Moroso tank or you can install the braded hose if you chose to upgrade.

Now you're ready to install the new coolant tank. Attach the bottom hose and put the clamp in place. Attach the coolant tank to the fender well using the two bolts you removed from the stock tank. Install the top heater hose on the top/rear nozzle. Your coolant tank is now installed. Use a funnel to return your coolant fluid to your new tank.

Retrieve your dangling PS tank and slide it into the notches on the right/front side of the tank. It should just drop right into place. Now you'll need to use the little aluminum tab and the hex bolt to secure the PS tank to the coolant tank. Finally, you're ready to use a funnel to transfer the PS fluid still in your OEM PS tank into your newly installed tank.

The Moroso PS tank comes with a really nice billet aluminum cap however you'll need to transfer your OEM coolant cap to your new tank.

Replace your CAI and you're all pau!
Here's a few snaps of the outcome.
