i don't know how it happened, but a few days ago my car was "broken" into. i went to the ward shopping center with my wife and one of her visiting friends. after shopping in the center we went to the theater to see a movie and when we returned i deactivated my car alarm and it gave me the double beep (meaning that the car was messed with while we were gone.) didn't think anything of it because i thought someone might have just bumped into it. the next day my wife was looking for her sun glasses and we realized that someone grabbed about $300 worth of sunglasses and a target bag with just two bikinies and two towels. don't know how they got into the car, there appears to be no damage done to my car, so i don't really know how he got in.

go get 'em!

Try looking at drivers door lock .Mine was broken into,at first couldnt see any damage .Ater looking at lock closely saw small crack around door handle key cylinder area. Apparently they jammed something in key hole and it popped lock open.Key also wouldnt go in but force it in and it worked fine after.
Dude, I am totally with you in your frustration and desire to "get even" with the little spineless punks that entered your vehicle and took your stuff. I wish there was a better rate of prosecution on this type of crime but unfortunately the likelihood of these maggots seeing a courtroom due to this caper is pretty much nil. I wish I had some good news for you... but... :dunno:
A lot of car break ins occur there. That's where mine was stolen from and my buddies was broken into. Perps must just peruse the parking lots over there shopping for stuff to take. It was the most heartbreaking feeling coming out to the parking garage and finding my window tint and broken glass where my Super Bee was sitting.

yeah, i knew there was pretty much nothing that could be done... just venting, that's all.

:ugh: OUCH! how long did you cry for??
LEO here from Missouri

Unfortunately these types of crimes are some of the hardest to solve. We might find the people who done the crime, and if were lucky we can catch them with the items. However in Missouri, unless we catch them in the act, its rare that the prosecuting attorneys will issue warrants. I feel sometimes that are prosecuting attorneys work side by side the defense attorneys. Unless were able to get clear cut admissions from all parties involved, warrants are refused. it sucks this had to happen to you, and i feel for everybody whos had it done to them.

nice call at looking at the lock. i took a look after reading your post and sure enough, the lock looks like it was tapped with something similar to a flat head screw driver. the little door for the lock is gone and there looks to be some twisting marks on the lock, though the lock seems to still work. i actually want to see if i can get the lock replaced with just the lockless door handle if you know what i mean.
All thieves should be punishable by death. Same with rapists.

When they broke into my car the first time, they punched the door lock by inserting something like an ice pick at the bottom of the lock and they rock the entire lock upwards, which unlocks the door. I removed that lock by having a rear driver door handle installed in the front.

With no driver door lock, the next time they did the same thing to my trunk lock. I ended up removing the trunk lock. I bought a 1/2" x 1 1/2" carriage bolt, sawed off the curved part to make it look more like the lock and painted it black with plastic dip paint.

Now I have no key locks on my vehicle. If they want in now, they got to break the window or tear through the sheet metal. Now hopefully they will pass by my vehicle in search of another vehicle with locks.

Also installed an alarm this past weekend.

What alarm did you end up with?

Delta--sorry to hear about your break in, this stuff makes me absolutely paranoid and with the amount of breakins Dodge should do some sort of recall and replacement of these obviously inferior locks.

Since I removed all my locks, I decided on the basic viper alarm. I think it is the 350H or something like that. Was $189 installed.

I was looking at a two way alarm, but I thought about it and decided that there were two things I did not like/want.

1) The size of the two-way alarm remote. With the size of the stock keyfob, I did not want to carry another large thing attached to it.

2) I thought about it and did not want to confront a thief that could possibly be armed. My life is worth much more than my car (although my wife sometimes may not agree). Also if I called the police, their response time would probably be too slow (no offense Five Oh).

My theory is, with no locks too punch, they would pass my car and go after another charger with locks (sorry everyone else).

Did you get an alarm?
Oh man, I was in bad shape for the first few hours, I figured I wasn't going to see her again, she would end up burned out in Waianae somewhere. My wife was even more wound up than I was. Good news is they found her abandoned at a construction site on Queen St. w/ about 9k worth of damage.

Believe me ShortShot, they will go through your window to get what they want!

They might, but hopefully they go after easier prey. Also I make it a habit not to leave my spare keys in the console, lol, jk. ;)
i have the two way python alarm (same people who make viper alarms) and stupid me didn't have the alarm set to let me know when the alarm goes off... learned my lesson on that one.

called the insurance company today and they reminded me about my 500 dollar deductible. YAY! how much was it to replace your door handle with the rear driver side one??

For my job we have a body shop that I refer our business too. They just charged me the cost of the cost of the handle and did not charge me the labor to change it out. It was like $40.

According to the body shop guy, it was really easy to do.

You should look at removing your trunk lock also, before they punch that lock also. Happened to me.
Very funny ShortShot...why you gotta be bringin' up old stuff :D

LOL, I could not resist. May be that is one part of the story you might want to leave out in the future. ;)

Just kidding, like I said, that was a one time deal...that a$$h0le got lucky...he should have been playing the lottery that night...not jacking peoples stuff!

That's why I always just pay the $5 and use the valet behind the theater. Don't want to take the chance.
