I just noticed the outside trim under the doors (both sides) seems very loose. After further inspection, it looks like the trim plastic has a hooked ridge that is NOT hooked over the chasis metal, with cutouts in the trim for the jack. I don't KNOW it's supposed to fit there but it looks like it does.
The plastic trim, front to back, is VERY easy to move around with my hand.
It seems attached well (not going to fall off) but this HAS to be the source of some vibration noise when the plastic bounces off the chasis.

Can other R/T, and other, car owners check this. You will see what I mean.

Yes,

The piece is very loose but remember very light wieght. When the car was born, They invisioned a lightweight hauler underneath the skin. Furthermore,
This piece you speak of does not have a great effect, enough to make such a vibration. I will ask the dealer about yours. Mine doesn't seem to be a problem, but lil loose.

Check your warranty too.

Cheers!

Ok, I went and checked the piece you're talking about and, yeah, I can pull it out a little on the bottom. However, I don't think it's so loose that it rattles. It seems to hold its position rather well.

I see that it isn't much of a "problem" but the part SEEMS to be made to clip over the metal rail just behind it...

It could be the hook along the edge is just a spacer... but if you look at it from the bottom, it "looks" like it wants to clip on the rail.

I can see being on the rail would also mean it would take the brunt of a bottom out and possibly damage the plastic, more drastically than the metal rail.

I don't know how it is "supposed" to be because I only have the one car... you guys are confirming that it is "not attached" along the bottom side.

Thanks.

Radarmagnet checked my Magnum and the trim piece is tight. The trim on my magnum is hooked around the lip of the body.
Both cars' trim have the same U-channel so I don't see why they would install any differently.
You should go to your dealer and at least bring it to their attention.

I think we have a manufacturing issue if others have this same problem.
It may be that they can remove the trim and reattach bottom first and fix the problem...

I don't know yet, but I'm going to check w/the dealer tomorrow.

My ~35% tint is done and it's much nicer now!!... 'cept I can't roll the windows down for 3 days.

it was bad idea buying it in first place :(
How about you go troll a mustang forum instead of this one.

Anyway, after a talk with my dealer it seems DCX may have changed the way they attach this lower trim piece.
According to the dealer, the Magnums where having issues with getting this piece bent/torn when the car bottomed out on the metal framerail. With the plastic trim not covering the metal framerail on the Charger, when bottoming out the car, the trim might not get pinched.

Anyway, all the new Chargers on the lot had this piece mounted the same way...loose along the bottom edge.

I still think they could have put a clip or two somewhere to keep it from so easily moving.

I was concerned about this as well and checked three other chargers out (one of which was a Daytona) and none of them are clipped on the bottom.
