Hi everyone. I wanted to invite all of you here at ChargerForums to the 2005 East Coast Meet 'N Greet. This event is for all Charger, Magnum and 300C owners and enthusiasts and will take place at Englishtown Raceway in Englishtown, New Jersey.
The East Coast Meet 'n Greet will take place Friday night, August 26th and Saturday, August 27th for those that can come out either for one or both days. We're scheduled to have our own staging lanes at Englishtown Raceway for those that want to try their hand at the quarter mile and we'll have our own pit/pavillion area so we all will have a point to congregate and relax and have a good time. We do not expect everyone to want to race their cars so please don't not come become this is at a track.
The schedule of events:
Friday Night:
Drag Night at Etown, 6pm to 10pm (gates open at 5pm)
Afterwards, Food/****tails at a local sports bar for those that are interested
A good night's sleep at a local hotel (optional, we recommend Holiday Inn, see below)
Saturday:
Official Meet 'n Greet, 10am to ? at Englishtown Raceway
Drag Racing, 9:30am to ? (gates open at 8:30 am)
Lunch Provided by HHP
Requirements For Racers:
In order to race, cars must have mufflers and seat belts (draining the coolant is not required) and drivers must wear helmets (full-face Snell-approved for cars under 13.5s in the 1/4 mile). They do rent helmets at the track for three or four dollars so you don't need to go out and buy one if you don't already have one. Also, racers must wear long pants, a shirt with sleeves (t-shirt) and shoes are a must (no flip flops or sandals). You must be at least 17 years old to race but if you are 17, you must have a parent present to sign the waiver.
We're still working on discounts on the prices to enter the track. The basic rates are as follows.
Admission Prices at Etown:
Friday Night:
$20.00 to race
$10.00 to spectate
Saturday:
$25.00 to race
$12.00 to spectate
For the quality of Etown Raceway, these prices are very reasonable and I think everyone is going to be impressed by the entire facility. We'll be talking with Etown over the next week to get a better idea of the discounts we will receive on admission prices. To receive the discounted admission prices, I am expecting to be posting a coupon up here on the forum for all of you to print out and use at the track. Without this coupon you will be charged full price.
HHP will be providing lunch which will be probably be your choice from Englishtown Raceway's own tasty menu. We will have drinks, too. If you want Beer, it would be BYOB but NO glass bottles of any kind, and they allow no alcohol in the stands, too. I was told that Englishtown Raceway does have their own beer garden. We'll all now get to see where beer grows.
Accomodations:
We contacted the local Hotels in the area and the best choice we felt was the Holiday Inn in Monroe Township. They have offerred us a rate of $99.00 for Friday night for anyone that is interested in coming in and staying the night. This was actually one of the lowest prices we found. The Holiday Inn has a Restaurant and Bar, a pool, and 24 hour on-site security on weekends which was a big part of our decision. This hotel is where I and my merry band of followers will be staying. To find out more information about the hotel, here's a link:
To make reservations, just call them at 609-655-4775 and as of Wendesday, August 10th the group name to use to get the discounted rate will be LX Forums. They will be holding rooms for us and offering this rate up until the 22nd of this month.
Another event going on this same weekend in the area, so I've heard, is the Funk Master Flex Car Show about twenty minutes away. Six Flags should be nearby, too. There's actually a lot of stuff to do in the area.
I'll have updated information again over the next week and post it up here for anyone that's interested. I'm working on the admission prices and on a possible rain date in September just incase a hurricane comes through since this is a shine-only event. If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know.
See you there!
