Hey all, I have a 2018 Scat Pack with only 13k miles and I am experiencing a creaking of my driver seat. It seems that when I apply pressure on the top part of the seat where the headrest poles are, there is a creak. Every time I accelerate or go over bumps I hear this noise and it is very annoying. I checked my passenger seat and it does not have the same behavior.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is it worth having the dealer take a look? I tried ignoring it but on such a new car I don’t think this should be happening, thanks!

No, I haven't experienced anything like this in mine, but it is a 2017 R/T and only has ~7000 miles. If it annoyed me that much I'd be taking it in to the dealer to see what can be done. But I have an awesome dealer... not everyone is that fortunate. Of course, I don't hear as well as I used to, so it is unlikely I would even notice.

Yeah I plan on mentioning it on my next oil change, was hoping someone here had this issue and if they know what a solution is (other than getting a new seat).

I experienced this in my old '11 R/T. If you pull the back panel off, you'll see where the headrest frame flexes when someone sits back into it. It was that flex motion which caused the creak. I used heavy duty zipties to tie it to the flexed position, and that ended the creaks. Here's my thread on it:

This fixed the creaking!!! Thank you so much, was a 10 minute job and so far so good. It’s annoying that we have to do this but it’s better than having a dealer try to fix it!

I am getting the same thing on my 2017 Charger R/T with about 25k miles on the clock!

Luckily it is a lease, so will be turning it in, in less than a year!

Warranty it. Not a big deal. I had my steering wheel replaced at 1000 miles because the leather was "folded" and would have caused cracking over time. Took em like 2 hours. You paid for a new car and deserve to have it function as such minus normal wear and tear. That is NOT normal wear and tear. Good luck

Interesting to read this. I have a 2018 SXT Plus with about 12.8k miles on the odo. My drivers seat is doing similar. Haven't had a chance to mention it to the dealer yet.

Yeah the above post about using zip ties seemed to help, but it is still sort of there. I will probably ask the dealer about it when I get my oil change and I will provide an update of what they say

Problem is, for me I tried to take it to the dealer multiple times but they couldn't repair it. And no I'm not going to lemon law this car or go down that headache path because of a creak.

Hi RustyFalcon & briankal03,

Please keep us updated if you address this with your dealers. We would be happy to have it formally documented within our system as well as connect you with case specialists who could provide you with an additional layer of assistance while your Charger is in service. Our team is just a private message away.

I had a creaky seat with my 17 Scat. I ignored it for a while but it got worse. Sounded like the springs in a bad mattress. Had Dodge take a look. They tried to blow me off but leveled up to the Service Director. They lubed it up and now it's quiet. Here's what they did:

Interesting. Depending on your relationship with the dealer, at some point after them attempting and failing to fix it they should replace the whole seat assembly for you. Utilize the "Dodge Cares" post below as well. Ultimately, you need to ask them to replace it.
