A few years ago someone tried to break into my 2012 charger with what i assume was a knife or flat head screw driver. The physical key in the fob will not open it. I didn't sweat it. But, now that the car is 7 years old, i know that battery in the trunk can possibly go at any time. Has anyone here replace the cylinder? whats the part number? is it easy to do at home? the dealer want to charge over $600.

The physical remove/install is not that complicated but I don't know how you get the new cylinder lock to match your key. You may want to contact a locksmith to get their advice.

Removal:
Remove the carrier plate
Remove the handle from the outside of the driver side front door
Using hand pressure, push on the face of the lock cylinder until it pops out of the cavity in the back of the door handle.

Procedure is in the service manual in the Body section (exterior, door front, cylinder door lock)
