Hi everyone,

Lately I've been somewhat disappointed with my Kumho Ecsta tires. They seem to lose traction easily when I accelerate from a stop.

I am considering going back to Discount Tire and swapping them for a different brand.

Do you guys have recommendations for tires that grab better?

Thanks! :beerchug:

Sorry to hear about Kumho : (

Stickier tires means shorter treadlife no?

I've heard good things about the Nitto's...provided treadlife isnt too much of a concern for you...

I personally went with the Falken F453's this year and am loving it so far.
It's only been a few weeks though, so I dont think my experience counts for much.
Besides..the Hemi's put down a lot more Torque so that changes things..

If you are willing to fork out the $$ then it is Michellin Super Sport without a doubt.

If all else fails then it's time to start looking at wider rear's...

I'm not looking for drag radials or anything, it just seems like my Kumhos lose traction almost every time I accelerate from a stop.

I still want to have reasonable tread life, so not looking to get short life sticky tires. Just wanted some opinions on brands.

I assume you're looking for All seasons?

I'd avoid the Ventus AS SUV tires I had those in 18 inch size wasn't impressed. Parada Spec X is a nice tire and I've heard good things about Nitto's Motivo too.

If you want summer tires I like my BFG Comp 2s, good balance of price/performance.

X2 on the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO. I'm on my second set (V12 EVO2 now). Excellent traction. I got a little less than 30,000 miles on my first set.

Surprised no one mentioned the Vreds or the Toyo Proxes 4 plus, the top two recommendations. Both are all season and last a long time.

Vredenstein appears to be the best tires for the SRT8 for dry and wet traction. I couldn't find any in stock when I bought my tires, so I went with the Toyo proxes 4 plus instead. Great traction but not as good wet traction as the Vreds.

I have the Michelin AS3 sports on my 06 SRT. Haven't pushed it *really* hard from a stop, but they grip pretty good, wet or dry. I have been able to break them loose, so not super sticky, but pretty good. Not cheap though. I went with the factory staggered sizes. Probably go with a wider tire all around next time to get even better dry traction and handling, plus a more aggressive looking stance. Car has Pirelli Zeros on it when I bought it, they came off and were replaced with the Michelins pretty quick (2 weeks) after I learned the Zeros where named after the amount of traction provided.

How many miles do you have on the Ecstas? Almost bought those this week but went with Yoko Parada SpecX. Bonus points for the Parada for being non-directional and symmetrical...I've got camber issues so I'll be rotating these tires every which way.

I think around 6,000 or thereabouts. I think most often they break loose when I'm making a right turn onto a busy road and go to accelerate up to speed.

Im running on the Cooper RS3-A. Excellent wet and dry traction. Just ok in the snow and ice. Aggressive tread pattern. Ride quality is good and they are quiet for the most part.

Downside is tread life has been less then staller. I think I may only get 18k out of this set before they hit 4/32. With that said, I drive a bit hard which I'm sure is having an effect. I only got 19k out of the stock Firehawks.

Like the other posts, I've heard good things about the Nitto Motivos. May try those next time.

Unfortunately it is just the nature of these cars to shred tires unless your a conservative driver. Its the price we pay for having heavy foots and ample HP. :driving:

I've been looking for tires and has found from reiews that the Sumitomo Enhance and Continental PureContact are about equal or better than the OEM Michelin's as all season touring tires. I do a lot of highway driving so that is what I am looking for. Currently debating the two. Conti's are about .5 inch wider but they both rate about equal on dry/wet traction. Sumitomo are a whole lot cheaper. I'm just a little leery they'll look like pizza cutters.

I had the Parada Spec-Xs installed yesterday, they feel real nice. Only put around 70 miles on them but on my normal commute, it's really leveled out some of the harsher road bumps that my Falkens telegraphed into the cabin. Grip seems identical but haven't driven it in rain yet. The tread design is nothing to write home about (actually looks more like SUV tires) but, honestly, my car's not a show car so who cares.
