Not understanding what you are doing. Are you not going to check your oil level anymore? Is this a new mod?

The 5.7 has many applications, as you know. The dipstick port used on a passenger car is different than the one used on a truck. The unused port is plugged and never meant to be replaced however mine has become cracked or failed somehow causing oil to spray when pressure builds. It isn't a mod and I don't think the dealership really handles this problem very often. I'm hoping to have it done for free but I know that's a lot to ask for these days.

The core plug for the dipstick hole needs to be driven into the hole, a roll pin punch or something that fits the outer diameter of the plug. You should not hammer on the flat surface of the inside of the plug, as this could puncture it. Old one if still present must be drilled out.
