So we all know our PCM and TCM have adaptive learning, but what happens to that programming when you upload a Diablo 91 or 93 octane tune?

Does it override the adaptives, or will the PCM and TCM continue to try to turn the car into an econobox?

The act of flashing a tune resets the gathered statistics, for one thing. So the car goes to defaults. Afterwards, data will be gathered and the car will adapt, as expected.

Just to be clear, "try to turn the car into an econobox" only happens when you drive the car like an econobox. If you drive aggressively, the car will adjust to that driving pattern.

Overall, the amount of data the adaptive values hold isn't ridiculous... it's several hours worth but that's about it. So if you spend a tank of gas or so smacking the car around, it'll adapt to aggressive driving. If you drive mellow for a tank or so, it'll mellow out as well.

It's not like gelding a horse, where the nuts never grow back.

So after a week of stop n go traffic averaging 15 mph, I've got Granny's grocery getter. On weekends I get let her run, but then it's back to the grind again (12.7 miles, 50 minutes).

So, basically what I'm getting from your answer is the Diablo tune will eventually be overwritten, and so I should re-flash it occasionally.

The tune will not be rewritten by adaptive learning. What he's saying, and I'm not positive of it but I'm sure it still does "learn" driving habits, is that if you drive the car like a grandma, it won't want to perform 100% right off the bat since the car doesn't think you want to drive it that way unless you do it a lot.
