I've reserved a Daytona thats coming into my local dealership hopefully next month. It got pretty much all the options but the protection group, the order status is D1 and est ship date is 8/30. Since this is the first car I've gotten on order, how accurate is the shipping date? I under stand that D1 means it been setup to be built I'm just wondering about how long it might be before it arrives? The dealer was thinking 3 weeks but I'm figuring it will probably be end of Sept or first of Oct. I'm trading in my Z06 Vette on it, I've decided that 4 doors, nice ride, lower noise level and a lot more room is more important to me than really fast acceleration and handling like it glued to the track I guess I'm getting old! I am really looking forward to the getting the Daytona overall I like the looks I had my doubts until I had seen a charger in the flesh and the interior is really first rate. I've been a long time Mopar fan I have owned and still own several B & E bodies.

Thanks,

John

I ordered my Daytona on 7/5. I was told 2 weeks ago that it had a ship date of 8/15, but as of 8/10 it was still in D1 status. The dealer I am dealing with said the status page he had available hadn't been updated since 7/27. I am going to call today to find out if it shipped yesterday of if it is still in D1. Then, from what I've read, the Daytona's get shipped to Windsor to get the decals applied, so it's another 2 weeks (give or take) before they are sent out to the allocating dealer you purchased it from.

My Charger R/T is also in D1 status, with an estimated ship date of 8/27.

As far as I can tell, from piecing together news from these forums and from the message board for the Brampton Assembly plant (where they're building these bad boys), D1 status means that the order has cleared all of the necessary prerequisites to be built: the factory has the parts, the dealer has the necessary allocation, and the order has been reviewed several times.

Each day at the factory, they set the build schedules for the day. Orders that move to D2 status means that they have a firm date to begin production, usually within 5-6 days of receiving D2 status.

The car takes about 1 day to be framed, painted, built, and inspected. Then it gets invoiced and sent to a yard where they are loaded onto the trucks and shipped to the dealers. This could take another 2-3 weeks after the car is completed, inspected, and invoiced. The Daytonas have an additional step to have the special Daytona graphics and body effects added to them, I believe. So they may require an extra week or two above and beyond this.

That's about as much detail as I have at this point. If you have a VIN# for your car, the guys at the Brampton plant will actually track your car for you, for a small donation to help them with the costs of running their website.

Welcome RTEXPRESS, I ordered my Daytona 6/13 it went to frame on 8/15 so thats 9 weeks, but keep in mind that the plant was closed for 2 weeks in July. I was in D status on 7/13 and moved to D1 on 8/1. Mine was supposed to ship on 8/15 but like I said it is in frame now, I would say expect at least 1 week from est. ship date to actual ship date and about 2-3 weeks from actual ship date to your dealer. Normally it only takes 10 days or so, but the Daytona is shipped to Windsor for the decals and could be there for up to 2 weeks before it shipps from Windsor. Hope this helps, keep us posted... :headbang:
