Hey gang

I think things have settled down enough from comments that its time to post this thread.

Looking for feedback about the Cruise In Car Show from Saturday the 25th. For those that attended, please contribute your best memory and anything that you thing should change / be improved upon for next year.

PLEASE!! Leave all the silly POST CRUISE BS out of it. This isnt about taking credit or anything other than hearing about the day from those that took part

I seek feedback on strictly that day to use as reference from the masses for next year. For a first event it was close to perfect and a few things will need addressing but wish to hear your take on things as most of the day was a bit of a whirlwind!

Thank you

I thought every thing was great in my opinion. The one draw back was on how long the raffle took. You,Gary, Jim(oldyeller) Dave and I breifly talked about it in Gary's camper and I cant remember what was suggested for next year. But then again there was alot of raffle item's. And as I stated before if you guys want me to do anything to help out just let me know. Sorry buddy wasnt trying to offend you or anyone else. Sorry Dave for forgeting you were there buddy my bad.

Hey Jim, ya forgot Dave. He was there and offered his views. I also thought the raffle took awhile. But we had a whole bunch of great items. And Jim, can you edit your post. I think trailer sounds kinda trashy. It's a camper. I know it's the same but just sounds a tad better. Thanks.

Great idea Tom. You beat me to he punch. I can think of two things that stand out. We had the issue of the T-Shirts. There were 50 donated but around 10 were given to the State Police, which they deserve. I had to buy 12 more. I think what I will do next year is include on the registration form a part where the person can put the size he/she would like, along with a color. Also if additional shirts are needed along with size/color. This way here everyone has EXACTLY what they need. Second is the food issue. Registrants will get either a band or coupon for their food. This way here we know who is allowed food from the cruise. Then other people can buy food accordingly. That's all I can think of at the moment. I, along with Tom, look forward to your input.Thanks.

I was not a trophy winner. I just held it for Dennis who won with the '64 Impala SS. I will post that info tomorrow as I am on my way to work.
felt good holding the trophy, tho didn't it?? haha...j/k had to bust you about this since my Chevy hubby told me to go easy on you about the Monte that ran with you...no seriously you did well and we thank you for your compliments about my crew....funny thing though our little family can't get down whether we're strictly Teammontecarlo, or Team Dodge Charger... I know what one I would pick. I think most of you do too :)

Overall, I thought everything turned out great.

The few minor tweaks i'd suggest are:

Restroom facilities: I know from talking to Gary at the show that a couple Portapotties were planned, but that plans fell through at the last minute. If the same location is used next year, these would be useful as the camp store is a bit of a hike down the road.

Raffle: This was fun, but ran a bit long. I'd suggest bundling smaller items like mugs, t-shirts, calendars, etc into larger "prize packages". It would go a lot more quickly handing out say 10 packs with multiple small items rather than 30-40 individual items.

Trophies: One word: More.... While I was lucky enough to win the "Modern" category trophy, there were LOTS of cars there deserving of recognition, and next year I only expect that number to grow. I honestly felt a bit guilty getting the only trophy in the modern class, as there were just so many cool cars on hand that day.

I think at the very least trophies for the first three places in each group makes sense, with maybe a split in the modern category for stock/lightly modified cars and more heavily modified cars (like mine) since we had enough cars to support such a move, and it would give nicely maintained stock or close to stock cars a shot.

Also maybe consider framed awards for things like "Best Paint" "Best Interior" "Best Engine Bay" etc. These would be minimal cost to make (a nice looking frame from Wal-Mart and a bit of time from someone with an inkjet printer and some design skill) and would allow recognizing cars that really shine in one specic area.

Hey Paul,

Thanks for the input. That is exactly what we are looking for. The first two you listed are ones that I had in mind already. As for the trophies: Those are good ideas. I'm not sure about the amount of trophies in each class but I do agree with the additional classes and such things as best paint, engine etc. It's this kind of constructive input that will make this show better if it is done again. Thanks again Paul.

Another thing if you're worried trophy cost will put a dent in the charity proceeds, You could just go strictly with printed awards. Most everyone will understand the charity comes first.

Thanking The MSP...

I've spent some time with the MSP today to look at my stack of photos, and tell them how proud we are to have raised a good sum of money for the charities... However, Sgt. Joubert tells me that he has not yet received a thank you from this group.

Despite of our differences, whether I should have thanked Sgt. Joubert and his Troopers first, or not, I know we all agree that we cannot thank them enough for their participation and give credit toward their vital role toward the success of the event.

As everybody knows:

A spoken thank you followed by a letter of appreciation can go a long way. So, please, don't wait any longer, especially if it is hoped to do this again next year.

(my 2 cents worth)

Danni,

I have sent them my thanks and they should have received it, or should receive it within the day.

Good...

Great Gary, I am very happy to hear that, since he specifically asked me for feedback on how it went. But please don't get me wrong: this is an appeal to EVERYBODY here.

Sgt. Joubert was quite eager to hear, whether the group had fun (while also letting me know that he put in a lot of effort to make this happen) as they normally, or better, rarely do this, since they get so many similar requests, and usually are way too busy.

I should also add, that he also said his Troopers really enjoyed the day. Which I know, was also important to us.

On that note Danni, did you happen to get the name of the third trooper that joined us? I also want to get a thanks out to him.

Oh, geee... I told you I'd get that 3rd name for you, didn't I??? And I forgot. :(

I'd be more than happy to ask next time, but please... since it would best be done sooner, rather than later, do not hesitate to call to ask.

Additional Feedback Regarding this Cruise

Hi all,
I have received a PM from someone who is reluctant to post feedback/observations here. The person suggests the following:

1.) If children are involved in the raffle prices should be appropriate (for children)

2.) Coordinators should not take place in their own raffle

3.) When driving in a closed group (convoy), everybody should have their lights on, and keep it tight to avoid gaps.

I told the person that the feedback is good, and have permission to post it under my name. As with anything, everybody is in charge of their own events, they can take the good, and leave out the bad. Nobody should be afraid to post here, if it helps.

Danni, I have tried to pretty much steer VERY clear of your post content, advice and comments not so polite nature, but this one I am compelled to make a few comments on the issues you laid out here from the person that wont post.

#1 What prizes werent appropriate for children?? Children were used to draw the tickets for the majority of the prizes as a way to include them in the day.

#2 Here we go with this again?? We bought tickets and raised the amount of donation to the chairites. They werent high valued prizes, it wasnt a corporate charity function so why shouldnt the people that contribute to organizing an event be allowed to have fun in this part of the day as well?? Let's see I won a coffee mug of which I dont drink coffee and wont drink liquid in the car, a t-shirt of which is too small and my daughter now has and a discount coupon to a vendor here on this forum that cant sell the product I would be interetsed in buying due to a Dodge copyright issue. Anyone want the prizes? be glad to give them to you if it will make this issue go away. And just for clarity, I told Gary to redraw a prize for someone else when i had won. Anything that I kept was because Caitlyn liked it and wanted it. THE ONLY participation I had in it was helping her check the numbers and paying for it. She purcahsed and held the tickets in her pocket.

#3 I made every attempt to ask the Troopers and officers leading our group if they wanted us to distinquish ourselves in any manner, headlights on, hazards, anything. THEY ALL SAID NOT NECESSARY. My lights were on anyways but that decision was that of the LEO's. As for the grouping, with all the traffic cutting in on us that wasnt exactly an easy thing to maintain but for the most part was handled well if you ask me. Thank you again to the Mass Troopers and Vermont Law Enforcement that escorted us on this cruise.

#4 Afraid to post up a response?? Ok, fair enough but this thread was created for feedback by ALL, whether it good or bad. I know Gary would want to hear it all so that next year could be better. No one should be afraid to post up feedback, negative or positive, you will not be flamed or insulted for negativity or input in anyway.

And as a comment from one of your other posts about the troopers specifically asking you about feedback on how it went...who else would they ask as you had not at the time shared any contact information with us on how to reach them?

Tom
