ok so heres the deal... my Daytona has been built (was certified this morning) however I have not even listed my Avalanche in the paper or anything...

I can't trade it in because I will take a bath on it, so I need to sell it outright... anyone got some pointers as to how to sell a truck quick, yet still get a decent amount for it?

I was going to list it when my car hit frame.... but I went from "nothing" yesterday to "built and ok'd" today.... so now I will be a nervous stressed out wreck until I sell my AV so I can actually take delivery of my Daytona....

(I only have one vehicle... so being without a car and getting to work 45 min away was not an option... so could not have sold it any sooner...currently now carpooling so being without for 2 weeks or so is not a HUGE ordeal)

I've had friends in a similar situation to yours use Car Max. You might give them a try and see what they will buy the truck for. You never know...

Don't stress to much if you are waiting for a DAYTONA, it should be at least a couple weeks before your dealer gets the car. From Brampton Assembly it goes to Windsor for decals and other touches then it would be shipped from windsor to you by rail and that alone could take two-three weeks. When I purchased my PT Turbo a couple years back, it took almost four weeks to get to Brampton from Mexico on rail.

When My Daytona is done I probably won't take posetion for three weeks, because it has to be shipped to windsor then back again.

How do you define "sell it quick?" I didn't order a Daytona, just an R/T, but from what I can gather your Daytona still needs to travel from Brampton to Windsor to have all the Daytona graphics applied, which is probably at least another week. Then it needs to be shipped out from there, and to make the trek from Canada to Arizona I am guessing will require another couple of weeks, right?

I'm thinking you have at least a few more weeks to sell your truck. Are you worried that you can't sell it in three weeks? I doubt you will take delivery of your Daytona before then if it just finished up at Brampton today.

update: I guess I should have stopped to read all of the posts in this thread first. My bad!

yeah I am fully aware that it needs to go to a place called "Ground Effects" in Windsor for the decal package... my problem is selling it in 3 weeks... just hope that I can.... the last time I tried to sell a vehicle privately... it took me about 6 or 7 weeks....

Try lowering your price some. $26,500 for that is a bit high. I know you have all the extras, but the miles are a bit high. I also sell Chevys and I sold a new 1500 Z71 LS Avalanche a few weeks back for around $28,800 after EP price and rebates. Is yours a 2500 or 1500? Used car market is hurting right now too, cause of this EP pricing,so keep that in mind. I hope I'm making you anymore nervous,I know it sounds like it. Do you owe any money on it?

billybob... sent you a PM....

Also..... nope dont owe a dime on it...

I know when I looked at a comparable new AV, it was over 30k with EP pricing...

Also since you apparently sell chevy's.... I would assume that you know that you cannot get a Z71 2500..... And that the Z71 and LS trim lines are different option ticks....

Another thing to consider is that if you do have to trade the vehicle in, you only pay sales taxes on the "difference" (i.e., the difference in value between what the dealer shows they are giving you for the trade and the price of your new vehicle.) Depending upon the tax rate in your state, this could amount to a huge savings, such that you can afford to take much less for the traded vehicle. For example, let's say they appraise your vehicle for $22,000, and the sticker on your Daytona is $36,000, but you are really only paying $34,000, the dealer will show $24,000 on your trade, and you will only pay taxes on the difference of $12,000. If the tax in your state is 10%, your taxes will by $1,200 vs. $3,400 if you pay cash. I hope my math is correct.

Hey Daytona, He's right about the taxes. Just some advice. First go to your dealer and find out what they'll give you on trade. Then you'll know how much you'd have to get private party for it to be worth it. An ex.

Daytona $34,000
Trade -$20,000 (just a figure)
Trade diff =$14,000
10% tax rate $1,400 (again just a figure)

which would mean you'd have to sell it for $21,400 for the same deal. That way you'd have a couple of weeks to "test" the market and see if you can get that or more. Make any since to you? I sale cars so if you need and help just ask. Bryan

My bad, you're right. What is the truck listed for in N.A.D.A? With those miles?
