Hey guys. I just had the compustar Pro 2 way 901 with drone (smart start) installed on my 2014 AWD RT. The install went pretty good. The shop (Dj aotu sound & security in Greenwich CT) soldered and shrink wrapped all the wires and took good care of the interior panels. The alarm works pretty well but I have found a couple of problems that I had to return to the shop twice for. After auto starting the car sometimes when I get in to drive off the car shuts off as if the key isn't in the car (security feature). Problem is the factory FOB is with me so now I have to restart manually. Not a big deal except more wear and tear on the starter. It doesn't always happen and I haven't found a pattern to why it does or doesn't do this. Next, when auto started the rear lights do not go on. Only the front parking lights light up. The installer says he can't figure out why this is. Anyone have this alarm and experience similar problems? As for when the alarm is working right, it is great. The drone which is the smart start like with the viper is awesome. The phone app works perfectly so far, (just doomed myself). The 2 way remote also works great. The distance is incredible and it shows everything you need on the LCD. Over all a good system but it is not without it's flaws. The installer seems very knowledgeable and is very accommodating but I'm wondering if the 2014 is too new and Compustar has worked out all the bugs in it's idata harness and brain for the 2014's. By the way the alarm works pretty flawlessly with the factory system. The handle lock unlock button works for arming and disarming the alarm. The unlock sensor in the door when you put your hand under it also works to disarm the system as well. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I plan on going back new week to try to get the kinks worked out. I just hate that they have to dismantle the panel under the steering column and take out the whole glove box each time. I feel it weakens the structure of the panels/screw holes and makes them not fit as tightly as before. I don't want any unnecessary rattles while driving. Thanks in advance guys.

I've got the 901 with drone installed in my 06 and ran into a couple of those problems as well. With the shutting off when you try to drive away, you need to make sure it's not in valet mode, mine was and turning that off solved that problem. If that's not the case, you'll want the installer to reprogram it. Yes I needed that too at first as it would start and then shut down after a couple seconds. No reason that your rear lights don't come on, that's something the installer will need to look at, quite possible he missed one of the connections.
Good choice on that system though! Love having the drone app, alerts sent to my phone for everything...especially nice in the cold if you leave something running by mistake & the battery is draining, nothing better than the car telling you that you need to start it & let it charge before it dies!

The alarm def should not have been in valet. I never put it into valet mode and because you have to hit the function key 3 times and then the lock button there is no way that it could have happened accidentally. So I should ask him to reprogram the whole system or the brain? I didn't know that the alarm would send you an alert if the voltage is getting low. Good to know. Do you have yours programmed to start at a certain temperature? Thanks for getting back to me.

It shouldn't be in valet mode. I know when my drone got added on (I had that done a week later) it defaulted the system to valet mode. Didn't even know & the app didn't show it, I had to call Firstech for support & they were able to see that it was in valet mode & turn it off for me. I would ask him to check the wiring as your tail lights should flash, and quite possible he needs to reprogram the brain.
As for the alerts, it depends on whether you have the basic or premium account. You need the premium for things like battery voltage, geofence, service reminders, speed limit, etc. The basic only sends alerts for the alarm.
Compustar doesn't have an option for auto starting at certain temperatures. I believe Viper has that option with their app, but Compustar hasn't added it yet. You can see the temp inside the car, but no trigger to start it based on that at this time. Not a big seller for me as I don't want the car deciding to start itself constantly with the cold temperatures here, I'd rather it just let me know when the battery is draining and I can do it myself.
