I just installed the mopar chin spoiler that looks like the Daytona kit. I think it has made a huge difference and looks great! A definte accessory. If have some basic skills you can install this easily. The only issue I had was the plastic style pop-rivets that hold the spoiler on. I didnt have a "Dodge Tool" to install so it is held temporarily untill I can find the right tool. It looks like some type of body panel puller or something but a standard pop-rivet tool does not work. I am thinking about getting it painted to match but i am ocncerned about the plastic. Can it be painted and look good? It has a rough finish. I dont have the pictures yeat but will get them soon.

There has been talk of this tool on other threads rogelio aguilera was one of the first to install one. He had said that he modified a hand rivet gun. I get my chin spoiler on tuesday and I think I am going to just use self tapping body panel screws being you have to drill anyway. and this will make it easy to take off.

how much to have the dealer throw it on???....i am not to sure about drilling my baby.

anyone have the rear air diffuser yet....i keep looking and no one has it yet. i am dying for that to fill in that gap between the borla exhaust...that should look sweet.

maximus - i wouldn't paint it personally. it is the most likely to get scratched and may stand out and annoy you if you see it scratched. but then again it may look sweet. sorry not helping.

Anyone have any info on this tool? Mine is supposed to be here Thursday.
Just goto autozone and get a box of those black, body panel clips. Two of the assorted to be exact. Then you you'll have some left over for other things.

I was going to order when I did the air dam, but I saw this:

PRE-ORDER ETA 10/05

Didn't want them to hold up shipping the air dam, so I just put it off. Probably no one has one because they're like the spoilers, all on back order. I'm all over it as soon as they're in.

Hmm, those little expanding clips they put half the car together with? Think they'll hold up at speed?

I used two way tape to hold it up then used screws and speed nuts to secure it to the car. A lift will make it alot easier to put on.

You can paint it body color if you'd like just have it sprayed with a Plastics adhesion promoter then base coat and if using ppg paint add a flex agent to the clear coat.

I thought of this question as I was reading this thread...being that this is my first car (former Jeep & Ram Owner), what is the purpose of the chin spoiler? What is an Air damn? and what does the rear diffuser do? I feel like a retard but I'm not real up on that stuff. I used to be a maintenance officer in the Army but M1A1s and HMMWVs don't have these. Thanks :embarrese

Let's see if I can help.

Yes, it is an air dam. When the car is in motion the air it is going through has four directions it can travel to get around the car, over the top, around to the left, around to the right, or under the car. The last one we want to minimize as much as possible. The more air you have going around and over the top, the more "down force" you get keeping the car on the road. Air going under the car, tends to make it want to lift up reducing its grip on the road.

So, this chin spoiler is made and installed at such an angle that a high pressure zone is created right in front of the open space that goes under the car, forcing a good portion of the air that would normally route under to go over the top or around the car.

Hope that wasn't too long, and helps explain their use. (Now of course to get maximun benefit of this spoiler, you have to break the law and go very fast, but we'd never claim to do such things.)

Thanks for the inputs. At this point it seems to hold up at speed with self tape screws. I am still up in the air about paint.

I cheated: I set it all up and drilled the holes last night, but let the dealership attach it with the plastic rivets it ships with since I was taking it in this morning anyway.

I'd love to see the downforce performance numbers on the charger with and without the chin spoiler on it. but I doubt anyone has a wind tunnel to use nearby.:D
