Guys,

I wonder if it is possible to accidently over rev the engine (6.1) if the wrong gear is manually selected. For instance if I am accelerating in 3rd gear and select the 2nd gear by accident. Will the engine over rev or will the Engine Computer prevent it? If the engine is going over the limit, what damage might occur?

I also have a european car, and this one will not let me go down a gear if there is a danger to go over the limit. I hope the dodge is the same!

I have done quite a lot of research but could not find any answer!

Thanks

You can't shift inappropriately in auto-stick mode. In fact, if you leave it in a low gear and keep accelerating it will shift for you, just later than it would have in full auto mode.

The RT will shift up for you but he has the 6.1. It will not up shift on it's own in manual mode. It will hit the rev limiter though so you will be ok.;)

Deeter, the only 6.1s that will not shift at redline now are the 2006 ones that didnt get the TSP trans flash. All 07s and up should shift at redline.

I have a 09 and it will up shift for you at redline. To be perfectly honest I think it makes the car faster if you let the computer do it at redline then if you do it manually at WOT.
