AWT ROAD/TRACK PERFORMANCE GROUP -inc: 18" x 7.5" aluminum wheels, air cond w/dual zone auto temp control, preferred suede heated pwr performance seats, high speed engine controller, load leveling & height control, P235/55R18 all-season performance BSW tires, performance steering, performance suspension, pwr adjustable pedals, rear spoiler (N/A w/AHN Convenience Group II) (REQ: 29N CPOS Pkg) *Affects Color Availability*

So what is the High Speed Engine Controller? I am thinking that the Charger R/T that I order next Spring might have this package and a Sunroof. Yeah not a lot of frills but then again I am big into performance and saving as much weight as possible. Also if I go with the AWT package do you guys think it is worth the extra money to get the package if I will be changing the intake, headers, and exhaust? Is it really worth it? That is the question which preoccupies my thoughts.

Thanks

Good question.
My best guess would be the "High Speed Engine controller" is the Politically Correct why of saying the Speed limiter has been raised to 145mph.

The Hi Output Engine Controller Has No Rev Limitor To Control The Top Speed Of The Car. On Cars Without Speed Rated Tires There Is A Rev Limitor To Control The Top Speed. The 300m Had This.all 300m With 17 In Goodyears Tires Had A Speed Rating Of 122 So The Rev Limitor Was Set To Top End Out At 118. The 300m With The 16 In Speed Rated Tires Had A Hi Output Engine Controller With No Limit To Top Speed. The Diff In 1/4 Mile Was 1 Mph And .10 In Et.

Where did that info come from?

Dunno but I would assume there is some sort of speed limiter if only the rev-limiter in top gear.

Ok according to every article I have seen the Daytona and the RT Perf. Group are electronically limited to 142 MPH. The tires are probably V speed rated = 145mph.
What tire are on the Daytona.

The Standard RT is limited to 128 (tested myself). The tires are H speed rated =130 mph.

I believe the SRT-8s are not electronically limited.

I think I read somewhere that the rev limiter is 5700 rpm (I know that?s the crate engine rev limiter) but there is no way to test that because the car shift before it gets there and if in park or neutral the rev limiter is 4000, I think.

142mph.......hmmmmmm that isn't a major selling point for the package in my mind but it does help. I think having those seats would be enough to justify the package alone.

I got the chance to sit in one of these cars this evening and I must say it is just awesome the way it literally holds you in the seat and has good overall support. The my salesman hopped in and started her up and gave it a few revs.....I was like gawd that just sounds killer. Much more grunt then the stock R/T for sure. He asked me if I wanted to take it for a test drive and I passed today since I had class in the evening......but I was tempted to skip...if only it wasn't finals day and capstone project due date...darn the luck. I will definitely have to take a regular R/T for a test drive and then take the R/T with AWT package for a test drive to see if it justifies the price increase....I say yes just for the seats but we shall see if it is really noticable.

I have yet to sit in those seats (identical to the SRT8 seats, no?), but i dont find the standard seats to be "enough" for me. I want some more side bolstering and i think that those seats would be perfect. I find it odd that you cant get the black/slate interior with those seats. It has to be black/beige i believe.

But i wouldnt turn down a standard R/T if i couldnt find a Road and Track equipped one when its time for me to upgrade.

I look forward to your assessment after driving both of them back to back.

I've been dying to test drive an R/T with the Road/Track package, but I just can't see myself driving 5 hours to St. Louis just for this purpose. :)

I know......but I will be doing one also. Dude scooped me on my own idea though. Honestly if I were him I wouldn't want to wait another week either. Regardless I am still test driving the two next weekend since I myself need to do it to really justify spending the extra money on the package.
