I'm not onboard with these. what you see there is basically a "filter" that selectively alters sensor inputs to the computer. So you gotta ask if you trust the JetChip guys more than the engineeer who built the car.

Now a programmer that allows you to slectively alter ranges that are already there is a different story. Hmmmmmm......

in line with the first half of your post

so you trust yourself over the engineer who built the car? hehehe

Programmers advance timming and that is how they produce more power... the only other performance advantage from a programmer is adjusting shift points, line pressure and top speed....

If you want to alter your stock tune for the best performance... once the code is cracked... go to a dyno shop and have them dyno tune your car... you will see 10 fold the perfromance benifits compared to a programmer...

It will give you a light differences in power, but not as much as you might think. It actually over some time will mess up the computer in your vehicle. What will happen is you have it dead on the road and wont crank again. IF this occurs just remove it and you will back to normal. Just a tid bit, if you are caught with it on your car it will void the warranty.

If I am going to buy a programmer it better be able to do a lot more than that.
Adjusting timing will not gain power unless you add fuel or reduce engine temps. The knock sensors will remove any added timing if something is not adjusted to reduce the tendency to detonate.
I would have to be able to adjust fan turn on temps for a cooler thermostat and fuel map adjustments to richen the mix under 3000 and lean it over 3000. (from what I?ve seen)

Trans shift firmness and shift points would need to be adjusted through the TCM I think.
I don?t know how much control the PCM has over the trans.

normally with programmers you have to run a higher octance fuel... whichs takes car of the knock problem...

the temp... well hypertech for chevy trucks recommends that you change from a 180 degree stat to a 160 degree stat...

once the code is broken on these... we will have to see what they do with these...

as for the fuel maps... dont expect to get that on a programmer... a novice could seriously screw up the car... and hand held programmers like to keep adjustments minimal to keep idiots at bay....

once the code is cracked... expect to see something similer to LS1EDIT for these engines... which from your post is more what you are looking for

An ls1 Edit type would be great and dangerous as well. As far as fuel map. I am not thinking about creating fuel maps from scratch but a program that allows you to adjust the curve. Like a stereo equalizer. Or a program that copies the WOT map and will automatically create a new map to optimize performance based on collected data from several sample runs.

That may be a ways in the future.
I think most people like me would prefer not to run premium all the time. That is why Hypertech started their Duel Fuel programming. It doesn?t work as well on high compression motors but the 5.7 is relatively low compression.
It?s easy enough to load the premium program and fill up with the good stuff before going to the track. This will give you the extra ?% gain.

duel fuel
But then again I will take what I can get.

Who makes a reprogramer or perfomance module that will work on the Charger? I have seen some advertised for HEMI trucks and Jeeps that claim up to 40HP gains, most are in the 20's. I have also seen programers for the 05 Magnum and 300's, will they work on the 06 Charger

I would not like to run premimum gas all the time but if the reprogramer could get better mileage by 2MPG it would offset the cost
