So I'm a very novice when it comes to detailing my car. So far with the help of Junkman and others I have learned a lot in the short time I've owed my Charger. So far I've learned that wax/sealant only protects your paint not cause it to shine. However with that being said I've read that both carnauba wax and liquid sealants have their own unique "color" or "sheen". As I understand it carnauba tends to have that "deep, warm glow" with depth while most sealants have a "sterile, bright shine" that lacks depth. I was wondering if there was any validity to this and if so anyone have any pics for examples of this? I tried looking on the net but can not find what I am looking for.

When you find someone claiming that BS, let me know. I want to see it too. I can show you through video and/or pictures all the stuff I claim. I have yet to see this BS some people claim about waxes and sealants. If you put wax on your car and change the appearance of it, then it wasn't ready for wax in the first place.

I've come to believe its all a marketing gimmick.

This video made me a believer:

Some products act like fillers thus temporarily giving paint a smoother surface (which helps with light reflection) while it lasts

It is, and the sellers of this claim hope that you will fall for it and not question them on it. They hope that you will be to sheepish to question their knowledge just because YOU can't see it. The emperor has no cloths! I will scream that to the hills.

Hey Junkman thanks I was hoping you would respond. That's what I thought about waxes but wasn't sure and wanted to ask the resident "expert" (i.e. you) for your input on this. A small part of me thought I was the crazy one for not being able to tell the difference.

My plan is to use a sealant right now (if the weather cooperates too much rain on weekends) because my car has never been "waxed" at least by me since I bought it in November. Also it should last long enough until I can use carnauba wax come mid spring. I'm thinking this is a good plan comments if you like.

You should ONLY do what makes sense to you. You must have a reason for your madness. It's not about what I think because if it doesn't make sense to you, you won't understand WHY you're doing any of it. So do what makes sense to you and have a reason for doing it that way. Then if someone ask you WHY you're doing what you're doing, your answer won't be, "Because the Junkman said to do it this way."

If you told me that, my second question would be, "Who the hell is the Junkman?" Lol!
