im thinking about getting a CAI but im having trouble on deciding which one. I know this has been a topic on here a lot, im just wondering what CAI you guys got and how do you guys like it. I really don't care much about hp gain im more interested in the price, installation, sound, and looks. Ive heard some CAI deduce hp. is this true? i got an 06 chaarger R/T well hope to see your guys reviews thanks:banana:

If you do a search you will find a million threads just like this one. Basically all CAI give you the same performance gain so it's up to you which one you like the most.

Installation is pretty much the same too, unless you're going for a true CAI, the ones you're thinking of are short ram intakes (they stay inside the engine bay) those are easy, biggest pain is removing and reinserting the IAT sensor. Actual CAI that receive air from behind the fender (considered better for performance sake) those you have to do some work to install, unfortunately I don't know much about those I'm sure someone will chime in with some info.

Unless a particular place doesn't have the intake you want in stock, shouldn't take more than a week or so to get it wherever it is you eventually plan on buying from.

I believe I got my Mopar intake from Mopar Super Center, don't let the name fool you, it is in fact a dealership, but sometimes they have some pretty decent deals, just watch the shipping because sometimes their shipping rates can be outrages for the littlest of parts. :beerchug:

Every thread talks about sound. Every thread talks about price. Every thread talks about cost vs benefit.

Some go on for pages. Some die in the first five responses.

A short arm intake is pointless, it's expensive, it's 100% for looks, 0% for power or performance

A true CAI looks slightly less cool but provides the best performance. For a cost effective one see the link in my signature.

As far as what one is best sounding, that's totally subjective, some people want loud, some people want a growl. . . To me, having something that sounds bad ass but doens't do squat is pointless.

Not in the real world. Head-to-head testing over at LX forums showed the K&N lost HP.

Don't believe the manufacturers advertising hype. No CAI gives any real HP gain. Buy what looks good or sounds good...forget about any performance gain.

YES, thank you, nothing makes me more upset than the people who take the boxes and add up the HP and all of a sudden they have xxx HP, it blows my mind.

For example
-Mopar CAI-20 HP
-Tune 30hp
-Underdrive pulley 50 hp
-Exhaust 30hp

Total-130Extra HP.....+425 =555hp, you can around and claim you have that. but it will show when you go to prove it ....

a CAI alone is not going to increase your HP by any noticable means. no matter what. it will only help with bigger and better bods. heck some people swear that the SRT stock airbox is better than anything out there.

Ddaddy, dont you run a stock airbox thats semi modified?

Vito, just go to search and type in homemade CAI, it should be the 2nd one on the list. 9 pages of pics and info for building your own. I hope this was what you were looking for.

Vito,

It's easy as pie bro.
i just skimmed the thread earlier but im going to go back to it now and really give it a read and some thought, currently i have a mopar CAI, but i am liking your custom set up way more man. as long as it will be very simple etc etc.

not to mention the Mopar is not a Dive down filter, opposed to yours being a "true cold air"

id like to rig something up where the filter sits right infront of one of the brake cooling ducts on the SRT front fascia.
