I assume everyone saw the new issue of C and D - very positive Charger R/T review - nice black one, just like the one I have on order. Check it here: http://www.caranddriver.com

0-60: 5.6 sec

1/4 mile: 14.2 [email protected] mph
That's actually really impressive. Car and Driver reported that the 94 impala ss did 0-60 in 6.5 and did the quarter in 15.0 @ 92 mph. Of course, the downside (for charger owners) is that the impala uses a version of the old chevy smallblock and is fairly easy to get into the 13's without touching the motor, and since it used most of the same parts as a regular smallblock, go-fast parts were easy to come by.

I'm particularly concerned with the charger's computer and transmission. Until the computer is cracked, a supercharger with supplemental fueler is going to be the only way to add substantial horsepower for most of us. And hard parts are the only answer for upgrading the transmission. You can play with the software to increase line pressure and shift times, but at some point you're going to need high strength clutches, billet hard parts, and custom torque converters.

Wow, the stock 05 Mustang GT with an automatic transmission pulled a 13.8 @ 102.

But hey you got 4 doors right?

Yep, that's right, we do have 4 doors, which makes sense given the car is a sports sedan. A SEDAN, btw, that happens to be nearly as fast as your lighter, less practical, so-called musclecar. Both nice cars, appropriate for different people with different needs. However, if I was a mustang owner, I wouldn't be too proud of the fact that I can (barely) outrun a sedan. Why are you still here? Go troll-n-flame some other board will ya?

Yeah it's a sedan, a bit heavy slow one.

The Charger doesn't have 4 doors. You drive a rebadged 300.

FasterV8, the only thing you're interested in is a flame war. You don't even make sense. You call the charger a big slow sedan - what does that say about your mustang, since the charger is only the slightest bit slower? Pathetic

Wow someone FINALLY figured it out.

Actually my Mustang bone stock beats the current Charger by over 1.4 Seconds in the 1/4 (12.7 bone stock average, 12.5 with good driver, 12.2 with expert drivers and 11.9 with DR's).

My Mustang as it is beats the current Charger by nearly 2 seconds....

Isn't the Ford Forum near the ladies room? I think he took a wrong turn.

FYI
from C/D

Charger R/T 0-100 mph: 13.9, 100-130 12.1 seconds
mustang GT 0-100 mph: 13.2, 100-130 12.9 seconds
From 100 to 130 the Charger is .8 seconds faster than a mustang GT.
So the mustang beats the Charger to 100 mph by 34 yards (as expected) but the Charger beats the mustang from 100-130 by 50 yards. Wow.
I'm surprised; I really though that having the Charger's performance compared to the mustang's was a complement. I didn't thing the Charger would actually beat the mustang. I guess the mustangs shoot their wad by 100mph.

But I guess if you want a mustang your only concerted with 1/4 of a mile at a time anyway.
Actually you probable don't want to drive it more than 1/4 mile without getting out to stretch.

You also left out how the Mustang spanked the Charger R/T in handling.

Why does it matter? To each their own. I currently own a 2000 Grand Prix GTP that runs 13.2 in the 1/4. But in my mind the Charger is the nicer car which is why Im trading it in.

If you like the Charger, good. If you don't that fine, but the flaming and such doesn't do anyone any good. I saw the Grand Prix board grow from nothing to a high modding community. But lately there is a lot of bashing going on over there. Lets not let this board go there.

Only if we race in a 300ft circle.

I can out brake you going in to a turn.
Charger 70-0 mph @ impending lockup: 169 ft
mustang 70-0 mph @ impending lockup: 183 ft

And out accelerate you in the straights. (previous post)

I dont need to pull more Gs in the middle of the turn to beat you
mustang .87g
Charger .78g

This is fun.

Bringing this thread back on track:

What a great review! Sounds like they absolutely loved the car. I was confused, however by this comment:

"... if you dwell in a frost-heave state and want to ensure that your Charger remains an all-star long-distance cruiser, you may want to dial back to the standard R/T suspension."

What do you think they mean by this?
